We were very much so surprised to see the spy photos of the newest 2018 Jaguar F-Type model doing rounds and performing tests for its newly updated model. The car was spotted at the Nurburgring track wearing heavy makeup and camo which covers the new look the car is supposed to have. But luckily our experts have managed to see through all the coverings that the Jag has made and can predict what the car may look like in the future. That and we also analyzed some of the recent rumors so we have incorporated them in our review.

The Jaguar F-Type is a sleek and sporty vehicle which has been around since 2013. It has been made in the form of a roadster and a coupe but whatever the body style, we knew that we were getting a great performance orientated car. The car started from 340-horsepower for the base and went all the way up to 575-horsepower for the SVR range topping level.

It appears that it has finally come time for a refresh of the old model. They have kept this news a secret till now and they are getting ready to unload the 2018 version of the F-Type somewhere around the beginning of the year, as the release date is speculated. We might get to see an official unveiling during the year, perhaps even at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show, and we may also see equal amount of changes brought to both the coupe and convertible versions.

The Jaguar F-Type model has always followed the same formula so far and it will be very peculiar to see whether the 2018 version will be able to have the same success as the previous one. A manual transmission, AWD and a lot of power is what we expect to get, but let us just wait and see how they are planning to pull it off and how will they make the future Jaguar F-Type for the 2018 season.

How much has the Exterior of the 2018 Jaguar F-Type Exactly Changed?

How can the 2018 Jaguar F-Type expand on the already great style that the current version has? But fortunately for all the fans of the old look, it appears that they have decided to keep its original design as a basis for this new model. The 2018 F-Type will do with a little bit of polishing up but these are not going to radically change the vehicle and turn it into something unrecognizable.

Let’s start with the front end of the car which has the most changes made to it. The grille looks smaller and it also seems as if it was divided. The grille does retain the same oval shape but without the dark coloration. The inlets are there but they are covered on the given pictures. It will also receive the dual, blade-shaped inlets back. The headlights are also reshaped a little bit and they seem as if they are larger than before. We also expect to see some LED daytime lights and adaptive high/low beams for the Jaguar F-Type 2018.

The side view does not reveal any significant updates for the car with the same thing going on for the tail of the car. But the taillights are supposed to get revised graphics and there are some modifications made for the single bumper. Down below there is a single central exhaust added with the obvious aero flaps raised above the trunk. It would also be great if they decide to update the GT-style carbon-fiber wing mounted on the rear of the SVR. This piece should also be active which can be positioned depending on the vehicle’s needs.

A Variety of Interior Updates for the 2018 Jaguar F-Type

The interior of the 2018 Jaguar F-Type will come with some advances as well. It will be a two-seat layout with a focus on driver enjoyment and luxury. Inside the cabin you will see a three-spoke, multifunction steering wheel and also well-bolstered sports seats with some premium leather on them. There is something that we do know but a lot of the inside still needs to be made public. We are hoping that we might get some changes in the dash and that there are fever hard buttons and switches appointed this time. Expect to get various minor changes which will fit well or the upcoming update.

We also expect that the 2018 F-Type gains a more functional interior. They are probably going to base this part on the newest F-Pace SUV and XF mid-size sedan. They both have centrally mounted touchscreen and the TFT driver’s information screen which would be great for the F-Type car also. Also, Meridian has promised to offer the new sound system as well and it will result in magnificent entertainment for the passengers on board.

What Engine will be used for the 2018 Jaguar F-Type?

We expect that the 2018 Jaguar F-Type gets some improvements for the current engine. These will not be so vast to make the car so much different than it is now, but it will certainly help it be faster for a few tenths of a second. There are going to be two powertrains available, the supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 and the supercharged 5.0-liter V-8. The layout also remains front-engine, RWD as standard, with AWD available higher. The V-6 makes a total of 340-horsepower for the base and the Premium models, while the same engine can go up to 380-horsepower in S and S AWD. The bigger V-8 engine makes 550-horsepower within the R trim, but can be enhanced to 575-horsepower V-8 for the SVR. As for your transmission choice, we have a six-speed manual, plus an eight-speed automatic with paddles.

Currently, the 0-60 mph ability of the F-Type Jaguar car is around 5 seconds for the base model, but the SVR model can hit the 60 mph mark from a standstill in 3.5 seconds. The top speed for the base model equals 161 mph while the SVR models can reach 200 mph.

The Estimated Release Date and Price

It appears that the updated 2018 Jaguar F-Type will not get a big price increase compared to the current lineup. The model now has a base MSRP of $61,400 for the base coupe version, while the SVT brand goes all the way to $128,800 per unit. The newest 2018 lineup will receive a smaller bump in the price for the updates made. The release date is going to be known after the public appearance of the car which is predicted for Geneva. But if we are to guess, it is very much possible that we see the car in the first quarter of 2018 available for sale.
