Something I thought I would never say is, “I really like the way Honda’s look”.  And here I am, saying I really like the way Honda’s look.  It takes an open mind to really realize how sharp the 2018 Honda Accord looks, as well as that new Civic they came out with.  Heck, I was footsteps away from actually leasing one myself.

Honda is really making some great vehicles.  Because now not only do you get reliability and bullet proof engines, you also get some sharp and sexy designs. It’ll take some getting used to since there’s that giant “H” on the front end, but just bare with me and don’t be judgmental just because they made this thing:

2002 Honda
You can almost see what they were thinking…But why, Honda? Why?

The Exterior:

2018 Honda Accord
Too Much? Or just right?

You can’t deny there is A LOT going on here.  It’s legitimately hard to follow one line on the car to see where it leads because there’s like 30,000 different angles and slashes.  But look at how proud that Honda badge is.  It is the furthest out front point on the Accord, making sure you know “I AM A HONDA AND I AM COOL”.  The redesign for the 2018 Honda Accord has a very busy front, and it is just teetering on the edge of too much for the eye.

I always liked the Accord for how sporty it looked and its character, and this new one looks like a whole new level.

2018 Honda Accord rear
This has “Future Tuner” written all over it.

The rear end is much easier on your eyes.  I can’t help imagining it with an obnoxious spoiler or wing a few years down the road when younger kids are snatching them up well below MSRP.  We will probably see the 2018 Honda Accord in future “Fast and Furious” Movies.

Back to what we’re looking at though, it is clear Honda is aiming for those younger buyers who love to be flashy.  Or their parents going through a small crisis.  You can’t deny the previous generation (Look at her here: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2017-honda-accord-review) was a very sharp sedan (or saloon, if you like tea).  It was very executive looking for a Honda.

The Coupe:

If you like driving sport, check it out:

Lines and slashes made to cut through a brick wall.

I know four doors are apparent here, but the classic Accord DNA (If you can call it that) shows that we have a very aggressive coupe-like roof line, so we will see a 2018 Honda Accord coupe.

The Interior:

LOOK AT THIS

LOOK AT THE INTERIOR! No I’m just kidding that’s totally not it.

This is a Civic. Bear with me please.

The new Honda Accord interior will feature a lot of cool gizmos, as well as Honda’s interest in fighter jets with the instrument cluster.  You can also bet on Honda utilizing the dual-screen we see in the current Accord and other Acuras.  I can also predict that the new Accord will use a three-spoke steering wheel rather than the four spoke in the current model to fit with their new, modern and youthful look.

Expect the 2018 Honda Accord to seat five adults comfortably.

The Performance:

The Accord for 2018 will feature Honda’s reliable little 2.4L four cylinder engine, as well as a 3.5L V6 and finally a 2.0L four cylinder with an electric motor to help power the wheels.  Power output (in numbers speak) isn’t totally impressive.  We’re looking at max output around 278 HP with the 3.5L V6, which in my opinion should be reworked for more power.  The four cylinders will get you 189 HP.  278 max HP out of a V6 sports coupe?  There’s a lot better out there right now.

But don’t fret, Honda is going to be reworking things and maybe we’ll see some increased power.  Honestly, if you’re making a sports coupe that looks like some sort of mutant shark, we need at least 300 HP from the V6.  Even the four cylinder should be able to output 240 HP.  Strap a turbo to it if you have to, but power is power.  It’s one step to look the part, another to actually be the part.  Don’t just talk the talk, walk the walk.

Fuel economy though, is a different story.  How does 45+ Highway MPG sound?  Good, huh?  That’s one thing Honda gets right every time.  You can go for miles and miles without worrying about maintenance or stopping to top off the tank.  But please just give us more power Honda.

Sum It Up:

In conclusion, the 2018 Honda Accord is shaping up to be a cool offering from Honda.  Honda as a brand has really stepped up their game in recent years, and 2018 is going to be a great model year (Look at whats coming…) for Honda.  Just as long as they pump out some extra horses (I’m sure they will) from their engines.

The Honda Accord is one of the best selling vehicles ever, and it seems like the car is taking the shape of a machine that is a bit of an acquired taste.  The slashed and cuts you’d need to protect children from on the body work may not attract the same audience as the older models.  But Honda seems okay with that.

Here is what’s on the market now.
