2017 Toyota 4Runner Review

All of us have been waiting for the news about the 2017 Toyota 4Runner hitting the market and we finally have some information to go on. The model is being released next year and the green light was given on the model. This is something that will put the competition to bed as this is a promising new model that is supposed to be the forerunner of Toyota in the SUV department.

The newest model is a very futuristic vehicle and has a brand new design and some newest addition made to it to make it as attractive as possible. Toyota is going all in with this model and we are hoping that it pays dividends for them. A full redesign is actually big news but it is something that was necessary as Toyota was planning to introduce the new 4Runner to the world in great fashion.

The initial purpose of the 4Runner was to be an off-road car and it does show many of such characteristics as it is seen from the design and the looks of it. It is going to compete against the Hilux models and the Land Cruiser Prado in the segment but the off-roading is not the only thing it will have at its disposal. 2017 Toyota 4Runner interior redesign

What the update of the interior of the  2017 Toyota 4Runner interior brings is a new option instrument panel, a redesigned steering wheel and an updated Entune multimedia system. The setup on the inside also has enough space for the seven passengers that are supposed to be seated on the inside. A great issue was the cargo space in some situations, but you are able to fold the back row of eats so you make additional room when needed. The back seats are the most updated part as now you get the power adjustable seats with memory as it allows you to save up to three positions and settings in the memory.

The inside is decorated with fancy new and quality materials. You get some leather seats and there are soft touch materials all over the cabin which matches the ones on the door panels and the seats. Wood trims and metal trims are also a big part of the inside and make everything look so much more exclusive and premier.

On the center console you will notice a  7-inch touch screen and it is accompanied with various about technological upgrades and infotainment parts. navigation is updated, Wireless connection is available as well as Bluetooth and the entertainment system is going to get some new audio equipment as well.


The new model of the 2017 Toyota 4Runner is much more aggressive looking than its predecessor. It holds a lot of elements that make it so and in fact do a much better job for the car. The front grille is enlarged and it combines with the slanged down optics at the front side as well and the new hood design. These are just the initial things that make a difference and make the car much more aggressive looking. There is a different front bumper as well and the back side also gets the new taillight design and the lighter alloy wheels as well.

The back side also gets an integrated rear spoiler which has stop lights placed in it, body sills and some stainless steel plates. The third side window has changed a bit as it was reshaped and is now a little bit wider from the rear door. The base trims comes with the 17-inch and 18-inch but the higher ones have additional optional wheels offered which are based on the trim level as well.

There is a great difference between the trim levels as well with the base one having the most simple setup. Of course the basic one is not too shabby and will satisfy most fans. The TRD version has non-painted plastic bumpers while the highest trims offer some luxury and high end solutions for tits exterior appearance.

Unfortunately the 2017 Toyota 4Runner is going to continue this year with only one engine option as it did from before. Under the hood of the vehicle there is going to be the 4-liter V6 powerplant making 270 horsepower and 277 lb ft of torque. The engine combines with a  5-speed ECT-I transmission and of course comes with AWD capabilities as well which add a 17 mpg, and 21 mpg on the highway EPA rating The FWD fuel economy on the other hand is measured at  17 and 23 mpg respectively..

There have been rumors that also the  2.7L gasoline I4 engine, and the  2.8L diesel engine were also into play, but no confirmation has been made so far. It may be that these two engines get to be offered additionally or optionally for the higher trims, but we will have to watch out for this news when it comes closer to the release date.

Price and release date

The release date has not been fixed till now and we only assume that the model is going to be available by mid 2017, yet we are still waiting for the officials to make it available when we are actually going to see the 2017 Toyota 4Runner in action. The starting price is going to be at $ 33,000 while the TRD Pro trim is going to sell at $ 41,310.
