2017 Tesla Roadster Review

Tesla has been apparently working overtime in order to bring us their 2017 Tesla Roadster model. The second-generation of their electrically powered roadster original has been on its way for some time now but are still a long way to get it. Although the car has been announced for next year the release date is still not clear but what we do know is that the changes brought to this model are going to include a new platform,  head-expanding performance and more range.

Tesla is planning to expand its range immensely and is going to bring us a vast output of vehicle which are going to come pretty soon. They are planning to sell the most amount of cars by the year 2020 and the 2017 Tesla Roadster is not the only thing that they plan to offer. With this in mind plans for the Tesla Model X and Tesla Model 3 are already in the making, while there has been an announcement for the unnamed Tesla SUV compact model which is going to be developed as well pretty soon.

The problem with the release of the new Tesla Roadster occurred recently and the production was officially dropped in 2012. As the original model made its debut in 2007 for the first time, fans said that it had a good stint but there were many that wanted to see more from the electric powered roadster car. With the development of battery factory under its way, it appears that the plans have been reignited and all the possibilities for this car nor more than possible. Read the review and see what they have in mind for the newest car.

There are going to be some major changes when it comes to the look of the 2017 Tesla Roadster. In fact, retaining and working around the existing platform might cause too much time and effort to do which would eventually mean changing almost the entire car. So what they decided to do is to change the whole thing all-together. The front end of the car has the same kind of a curvaceous design that we get on the Model S design. The hood has two ridges which start at the headlights and go all the way to the windshield and that way gives more accent to the front fenders. The shoulder line is set at an oblique angle which accounts for a more aggressive profile from the car.

The back end has some creases below the shoulder line which also brings more of an angle to the profile of the car. Visually we get a car with enhanced rear fenders and haunches which have been raised a bit higher. The tail actually looks that it has the same proportions as the nose part while the rear bumper has more ground clearance that the front one. There are also two bulges which rise up and form the seat backs and headrests, which gives us a suggestive presence of a roofline. These two details actually make the car seem much more racked than it actually is.

The interior of the 2017 Tesla Roadster is going to be comprised of luxury and technology. For this model they are going to go beyond compared to what was seen in the previous model or the other Tesla vehicles on the market. This means the inclusion of some Nappa leather and premium upholstery materials. They are also going to add some aluminum trims and polished zinc and optional carbon fiber. Under the optional list there are also going to be some new special color pallets offered as well.

The technological part is going to be enhanced with an enormous touchscreen placed in the center console part. The infotainment system is going to be enhanced and will offer a slew of options that you have never seen in the previous model. You will get some features as smartphone integration, WiFi internet connectivity, Bluetooth connectivity, navigation and high-definition cameras and more.

As we are not sure when the car is going to come out, we know that the technology inside is going to evolve and expand which means that the autonomous features of the car are going to be expanded as well. Expect a state of the art  sonar system which essentially allows the car to drive itself.

Engine specs

There are not many words on the actual powertrain for the 2017 Tesla Roadster, but a lot of assumptions and speculations are being made. What we do get is something that is going to be devolved alongside the Tesla Model S vehicle which is going to get the Ludicrous driving mode, which is better than the Insane driving mode. For the Roadster they are going to go beyond that and introduce the new driving mode which supersedes this one. The Tesla Model S was able to reach a number of 2.8 to reach an acceleration of 0-60 mph. Wiht the changes brought to the motor, the acceleration for the 2017 Roadster is expected to be at 2.5 seconds, which is only beaten by the 2.4 seconds that the Porsche 918 Spyder has to offer. They are also planning to add a lot of range to the new car which as some say will extend to some added 400 miles. This is all due to the new battery which is going to be developed and which comes out soon as well.

Release date and price

The car is certainly going to be pricy as you will have to dig deep in your pocket to get you one of these 2017 Tesla Roadster babies. The current Model S costs  $125,000, which states that in order to get the Roadster you will have to go beyond $150,000. The release date is still unclear which actually places it somewhere at around the end of 2017 or even beyond that which is more than likely possible. It all expands on the speed the new technology is developing and we are talking particularly about the battery pack which is the prime goal here.
