2017 Nissan Murano Review

The Murano is the halo vehicle of Nissan’s range of crossover and SUV cars and thus they have decided to updated it and produce a 2017 Nissan Murano model. The New York Auto show is the perfect place which showcases us the most improved cars that are going to be seen in the market and is a perfect place to show the new face of Nissan as well.

The new model is also showcasing the new design language the cars are adopting from now and is a perfect stamp that Nissan is making for their cars. The new Murano is not only a model which will benefit itself but will also help developed a whole new range of vehicles as this type of a design is going to be used for a whole range of future models to come.

The exterior design is not the only thing that has been changed for teh Murano and is not the only innovation that we are going to see, the inside is also getting an updated as well. Perhaps not in a significant manner the outside is being done but still it is good enough to bring us a full and whole new model car.

What we like the most about the new 2017 Nissan Murano is that it is stepping away from a conventional look that we have been used to and is taking a chance of going a bit more mainstream this time. The Murano is going to be available in different trim levels as well, so expect to get the S, SV, SL and Platinum trims. Consider this review for further information about the car.

2017 Nissan Murano exterior update

Given the fact that we cannot say that the previous model was a beautiful car, things are going to change or the exterior of the 2017 Nissan Murano. We are getting a somewhat down-to-earth styling which is going to be very appropriate for this model and will make a great change for the brand as well. It is more than apparent that the new Murano is going to be inspired by the Resonance concept that was introduced some time ago and which design seems fit to help the Murano in its needs now. This is more than apparent with the addition of a V-Motion front grille firmly poisoned up front and the  boomerang-shaped headlamps surrounding it.

The design of the hood is positioned that it slopes down toward the grille at a smaller angle and the aprons are taller compared to before. Compared to the concept that it was based on, this car seems much bulkier and heavy but very nice in fact. The back side excludes the diffusers section which is seen on the connect model and substitutes this part with some deep-sculpted lines that are added instead. Generally speaking, the new model does not bring anything spectacular but it is a massive improvement compared to the previous one.

Engine news

2017 Nissan Murano engine

The power is going to be provided to the 2017 Nissan Murano via a 3.5-liter, DOHC V-6 engine, which is going to be the same choices which was used the previous time. This time it will be able to produce 260 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque as it combines with an improved Xtronic transmission. The setup combined with the improved aerodynamics of the vehicle promises to provided much better fuel economy. The weight loss, which is around 130 pounds, is also a significant part and will essentially result in a 20% better fuel efficiency.

Interior changes

On the inside of the 2017 Nissan Murano there is a lot that has been changed. The cabin receives a new dashboard, a steering wheel update and even new door panels. The instrument panels have been lowered a bit and a new  8.0-inch color touch screen is set at the center console. The control center is now designed to be much more simpler compared to before as it reduced the number of switches by 60%. The wrap around inserts that spread from the central part of the dashboard and go all the way to the door panels add some finesse to the cabin and show how quality this update is.

The company’s Zero Gravity seats are going to be a standard offer in the latest Murano. The rear seats are going to get a three-cushion design which is going to add more comfort and is a first for Nissan. Other standard features include push button ignition and Dual-Zone Automatic Temperature Controls as well while in the optional package you get  leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel and of course the leather seats. The new Power Panoramic Moonroof  has a linger sliding length and a larger opening from before.

Price and release date

The vehicle is going to be released by the end of the year and we might get the 2017 Nissan Murano earlier than we expected to get it. The starting price for the base S version is going to be $29,660 USD while we still need to determine the pricing on the higher trims.
