Maserati is one of the most lovely names in the car business. It just screams fine Italian luxury sports car.
Since the early 1900’s, Maserati has been one of the most prominent names in motor sport as well, with a strong history and fantastic engineering.
Through the years, Maserati has grown and produced some lovely machines with the help of Italy’s best design houses such as the legendary Pininfarina and Bertone.
Currently, Maserati makes its way with only four models in its range. While that doesn’t seem like much, the luxury manufacture still has the most recognizable name plates on earth.
Maserati makes the Quattroporte (sexy Italian for “Four Door”), the Ghibli, the GranTurismo/Gran Cabrio and the Levante.
If we were to pick an outlier, the Maserati Levante would definitely be it. The Maserati Levante is an SUV, which from Maserati, may sound pretty confusing at first.
But the 2017 Maserati Levante is one of the most beautiful vehicles in the current line up. It’s big, imposing and powerful. Maserati has been really redesigning their cars in recent years, and the Levante reflects the latest iteration.
The 2017 Maserati Levante is probably the best looking SUV on the market. Am I being bias because I’m Italian? Probably.

The Exterior-2017 Maserati Levante:
The 2017 Maserati Levante is absolutely gorgeous. Plain and simple.
The grille on the front of the 2017 Maserati Levante has fangs that run across it with a giant, menacing trident in the middle.
Maserati squinted the eyes of the 2017 Maserati Levante, which looks more like a trademark for the Italian manufacture.
Small fog lights are underneath the head lights, and I can’t help but believe that they were an after thought, with what they look like.
The secondary air intakes under neath the massive grille accent the front bumper perfectly.
On the side, the 2017 Maserati Levante has Maserati’s trademark air vents on the front fender.
These air vents have been cool for years, but they are slowly becoming very outdated. What’s another car make that you’ve seen these three air vents on? Buick, right? Or maybe you’ve seen these heat-sinks at a local Auto Zone that you can just glue on your car anywhere? Yeah, that’s why Maserati should get rid of them.
The silhouette of the 2017 Maserati Levante is beautiful. The front end is long, the hips are wide and the roof line is sleek.
From the rear, the Levante is probably one of the best looking SUV’s on the market. Essentially, it is a GranTurismo stretched out onto an SUV. Which makes it gorgeous.
The quad exhaust tips and wide hips add a very athletic look to the 2017 Maserati Levante, which is very welcome on a sport-SUV.
Maserati did a very good job on the 2017 Maserati Levante. While it does start at $72,000, they did a great job making it super sporty and practical.
The Interior-2017 Maserati Levante:
The interior of the 2017 Maserati Levante is a pretty beautiful place to be. The steering wheel is lovely, center console is clean and tidy and the classic Maserati analog clock dawns the center of the dashboard.
One thing I do draw issue from is the black plastic that seems to line the infotainment display. Maserati features this plastic on the Ghibli, and it looks awful. For 72 thousand dollars, there are much sharper and beautiful interiors out there that don’t feature black plastic.
Even with that said, the interior of the 2017 Maserati Levante is a great looking place. Between the red leather, carbon fiber and wood accents you can get, the interior can fit a luxurious or sporty silhouette.
I can’t deny that there is a slightly “Chrysler” feeling I’m getting across the interior when I look at it. And that is a feeling I don’t want in a Maserati.
However it seems that Maserati actually cares about technology in the 2017 Maserati Levante, unlike what we’ve seen in the Ghibli. Things like lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning and other safety measures are included on the inside of the 2017 Maserati Levante.
The design of the 2017 Maserati Levante interior can be credited to one of the most legendary apparel designers out there, Ermenegildo Zegna (Yes, I had to Google how to spell that). Maserati also offers small leather goods and apparel by Zegna with your Maserati.
The Performance-2017 Maserati Levante:
For a new Maserati to be a proper Maserati, it must also perform well. I know that Maserati’s have a history of breaking the day after the warranty runs out, and the transmissions have been shotty for some time, but Maserati’s are historically above all, fast.
Maserati fits the 2017 Maserati Levante with a few engine options. You can get a diesel or petrol set up, in a 3.0 L displacement. The top end engine produces 430 HP out of a twin-turbo charged unit, and the diesel can produce up to 390 HP. Plenty of power.
The 2017 Maserati Levante can go from a stand still to sixty miles per hour in around 5.2 seconds. Proper pace.
Maserati employed ZF for an 8 speed automatic transmission which is standard on all 2017 Maserati Levante’s.
Sum It Up:
Maserati’s engineers did great work on the 2017 Maserati Levante. It is a big SUV, but Maserati managed to make it breath-takingly gorgeous and powerful.
Maserati has released the Levante a couple years ago, but the release date for the 2017 model will be known later this year.
