I know that you are as surprised as I am when hearing the news that an SUV is coming out of the stables of Lamborghini, a car manufacturer famous for its scintillating supercars and sports models. But you’ll be more surprised, if I tell you that this is not their first entry into the SUV market, but way back in the 90’s era, Lamborghini did launch LM002 as an SUV model, but faced huge failure, mainly  due to the design and model. The cars were not very attractive and only 328 cars were produced. But, Lamborghini is back with a bang now with the Lamborghini Urus, almost 20 years after the LM002.

The word Urus may sound  odd, but there is a reason they have named it so. In the ancient times, the big brothers of the modern day cow were more gigantic and heavily built and were called Urus. Lamborghini has thus taken this name, given the Lamborghini Urus is one of the largest vehicles in their SUV segment. It will now be a waiting game to see how Urus will compete with SUVs from the Porsche’s and the Bentley’s. According to auto experts, people are going to go crazy in the first one or two years as we don’t have an SUV with so much power and performance like the Lamborghini Urus, and more so  coming from the house of Lamborghini, it adds a bit more expectation and anxiety.

Lamborghini Urus – Exterior

The exterior of the Lamborghini Urus is as expected, in the lines of a lambo model. One of the main reasons that the LM002 was a disaster was that it didn’t look anywhere like a lambo vehicle, so they didn’t want to repeat the mistake this time. Certainly, some of the features were taken from the LM002, but Lamborghini says the Urus is ultimately a new model built and conceptualized with the latest design standards and trends.

You may also see some features and design concepts have been borrowed from its Aventador model as well, like the headlights which looks similar to the Aventador, but smaller in size here. Nevertheless, the headlights form the trademark Y-shape in the headlights – a tradition followed in most of the lambo models. The double hump feature, the frontward pointing arrow design and the slightly swiped forward roofline gives an attractive look to the Urus. And the standard 24 inch wheels with double spoke rims comes with the Urus as expected.

When it comes to the design of the rear end, we are sure to witness one of the sexiest features for any SUV with hard angles and spectacularly designed rear headlights. Any Lamborghini fan will surely love this new SUV model from the stables of Lambo and is sure to be a super-hit model according to many reviews. It is also believed that people are waiting with great expectation for its release.

Lamborghini Urus – Interior

Coming out of the SUV tradition with seating for a  minimum of 5 persons, the Lamborghini Urus comes with a seating capacity of just 4 people. The interior looks like that of a sports car. Most of the interior is built using carbon fiber reinforced polymer and hence the overall weight of the SUV has been lessened to a great extent. One can use the multifunction steering wheel or the screen behind the wheel to control the lights and the wiper. The interior is pretty much compact and most of the parts behind the steering feel have been removed to provide a more cleaner look and you only find the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.

Lamborghini Urus – Engine

The 2017 Lamborghini Urus is stated to host a twin-turbocharged 4.0 liter V8 engine, which is a downgrade from other lambo models, where only V-10 and V-12 versions were utilized. But the V-8 engine can produce a maximum power of up to 560 hp and a torque of 516 lb-ft. The Urus is expected to reach 0-60 in just 4.0 secs which is great for an SUV, but somewhat a normal feature for the Lambo. There were no official fuel ratings available as yet, but when considered the Aventador has a fuel rating 11/17 mpg in the city and highway, the Lamborghini Urus with a much more lightweight design and using a V-8 engine should do better than that.
