The newest lineup coming of 2016 is going to be complemented by the first ever SUV vehicle coming from this automaker. The 2016 Jaguar F pace is a car that has been showcased for the first time at the Frankfurt Auto Show this year and was one of the biggest news of the said auto fair. They are expecting this addition to heavily influence the Jaguar’s point of view and will make their lineup even more versatile than it has been for the recent period.
But what was actually the reason Jaguar decided to bolster their lineup with an SUV car. One of the premises is the announced from William Lyons that says that all Jaguar vehicles need to have “grace, pace and space,” which is what a typical SUV is all about. Another thing is that they had a lot on their hands that was actually a done deal for them as the latest concept vehicles that were coming out since 2013 were many SUV-orientated. The new car heavily relies on the build of the C-X17 line of concept cars, with the latest being released as a 2014 Jaguar C-X17 concept.
The end result that Jaguar has managed to eventually produce is a vehicle which has all the characteristics of an SUV vehicle and incorporates the design language of Jaguar immensely. The F pace is further bolstered by a series of high powered engines that have been added to the powertrain mix. 2016 Jaguar F pace exterior
The exterior design of the 2016 Jaguar F pace is not anything spectacular in fact as it does not offer a completely unique look. It does hold to some design cues that are seen in other Jaguar vehicles, but all in all holds a firm hand to a typical SUV design. The headlight design of the car has been carried of form the J Blade and has the same kind of a shape that will be sued in some other future vehicles that have already been announced by Jag as their future releases. The grille is also something that is familiar to the people of this brand as it has a look that is seen in the current sedan Jaguar vehicles.
The side of the car does not pose anything spectacular to boast with but it does include some interesting new additions. Some of them are the added side grilles that extend over the front doors, there is an inverted crease in the bodywork made that which makes for a more agile stance of the car. The side profile is completely clean and something that is expected from a vehicle in the SUV segment. The back side is the same story as the entire vehicle. It also includes some parts which are consistent with the current Jaguar sedans, but nothing spectacular to add.
The inside of the 2016 Jaguar F pace continues with the borrowing of ideas as it continues with the similarities with their siblings from the sedan lineup. This is in the case of the exterior made in terms of luxury and the refinement of the interior. The luxury has been enhanced with the trim of the car, so depending on the trim you can get authentic metal finishes, like meshed aluminum for instance, or go as far luxurious like opting for Satin Grey Ash.
The instrument panel is similar as the one found inside the XF and XE sedans. The central part of the dahs is dominated by a FT display while there are two analogue gauges that surround it added. You can optionally choose a larger 12.3-inch virtual instrument cluster which adds full-screen navigation, different visual themes, and crystal clear HD. Just beneath it are different buttons that are added for different use here which are neatly laid out and do not cause any clutter this way.
The spacing on the inside of the vehicle is also something that the 2016 Jaguar F pace is proud of. You can comfortably seat five people at the same time without anyone feeling cramped. The sport seats feature leather materials, 14 different adjustments plus heating and cooling functions. The cargo area has 23.3 cubic feet of cargo or additionally 61.4 cubic feet with the rear seats flattened down.
As mentioned there are going to be several powertrain options available for the 2016 Jaguar F pace. The US shoppers will be happy to know that they will be able to choose between the 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 or a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engines. The first release of the F pace vehicle will debut with the former option while the latter will be available some time afterwards. The base model engine also makes an output of 340 horsepower while the latter makes 180 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque.
All of the F pace engine options are going to be combined with an eight-speed ZF transmission. Performance numbers will on the other hand depend on the actual engine that one chooses. SO the diesel variant is going to have the weakest 0-60 mph acceleration measured at 8.1 seconds and a top speed of 129 mph. The two supercharged V-6 variants can speed up to 60 mph in 5.4 and 5.1 seconds respectively, with a top speed of 155 mph for both.
Price and release date
There are no official statement made about the release date of the 2016 Jaguar F pace, but it is certainly going to happen sometime in late 2016. The starting price is going to be at $40,990, which is a bit cheaper as some of the prime vehicles in this segment. If you go for the supercharged V-6 variant a price of $42,390 is more appropriate, while the more powerful of the two will cost you $56,700.
