If you think that the Ford Raptor is one such sports pickup which can just zip past at high speeds, then you are probably wrong. It can do a lot more than speeding as it can cruise over deserts, rocks and mountains with ease and perform splendid jumps across the sand dunes. The 2017 Ford Raptor is one hell of a pickup that can easily rip across any terrain with ease. It is one of the best off-road trucks in the market today.
The all new 2017 Ford Raptor is arguably one of the best off-road monsters with an improved running clearance than its predecessor. The power is distributed effectively across the front and rear wheels with a new four-wheel drive, Torque-On-Demand feature that involves the salient features of clutch driven technology, on-demand wheel drive and the mechanical locking aspect of the four wheel drive.
2017 Ford Raptor Exterior
Similar to the F-150, the Ford Raptor is also built with an aluminum body kit to reduce the weight to a great extent of up to 500 pounds. It takes less than 5.7 seconds for the Raptor to get to 0-60 mph. Unlike a sports car where acceleration is bumpy, the 10 speed automatic transmission makes your gear shift smooth. It comes in two body styles, the five passenger capacity supercab style and the larger supercrew style to accommodate more passengers. The wide fenders, vents and the flares are provided to give a monstrous look and the bed cover prevents the bottom of the vehicle getting damaged from flying rocks and other things that you may drive over. Equipped with the BFGoodrich All-terrain KO2 tires the 2017 Ford Raptor provides superior off-road traction. The ford raptor suv on the first look boasts of the massive grill and the giant suspension to provide a beefy look.
2017 Ford Raptor – Interior
The inside reminds you of the old sports car models with the striped color at the steering well. These color stripes are used in sports cars to remind you of the position of your steering wheel and to quickly react when crossing over damp grass pit or mud fields. The interior of the Raptor has been completely remodeled according to the latest design trends. But you still see the large heated and cooled seats existing along with the large dials and knobs etc. The new inclusions include the twin-pane sunroof, which makes you think the raptor to be a convertible, when it is fully open. The mode switch is brilliant as it has 6 terrain modes. The 6 terrain modes include sport, normal and weather with the off-road terrain modes being the Baja, Rock and Sand. When you select a particular mode, it automatically selects the appropriate transmission, steering adjustments, throttle control etc. But there is always an option for you to take full control to override these selections to drive the Raptor in your own style.
2017 Ford Raptor – Engine
The 2017 Ford Raptor comes with a new 2nd generation 3.5 ltr V6 with twin turbochargers along with a direct fuel injection. According to sources, the V6 is conceptualized and designed based on the parameters and specifications of the high powered EcoBoost engines that are normally used in sports cars. These also include the improvements in the fuel system, the all new aluminum block for the engine and also with the cylinder heads and other internals. The rear bumper sports a dual exhaust system powered by twin outlets for improved airflow. Even though you may miss the roaring 6.2L V8 engine, Ford doesn’t disappoint you with V6 that is much more efficient than the V8 and produces around 450hp when compared to 411hp of the V8. The torque is also invariably higher with 510 lbft when compared to 434 lbft of torque with the V8. The new 3.5 ltr V6 also uses less fuel when compared to the V8, so overall the 2017 Ford Raptor is packed with a heavy duty engine to provide a thrilling ride across any terrain.
