2017 Buick Riviera Review

Is the release of the 2017 Buick Riviera becoming a reality? It appears that after two concept models we might get to see the real thing next year. The Buick Riviera is a futuristic looking model which everyone has been excited about immediately after they have seen the concept, wishing that it would change as little as possible for the production level car. Grant you, it looks as something seen in a Sci-Fi movie except that it does not fly, or maybe it does, that is why they are using so much time to release it. In fact there have even certain news which report that the car is getting closer to the production level finally.

The first model was showcased bas in 2007 when it was already amazingly looking and is swept every body to our seats and we were just holding on for the day that we would see this model in action. Buick did not come up with the production level model but instead brought us a new concept version which as updated compared to the first one and brought us some new tricks and tips for this model. Interestingly both concept models were released at the auto show in Shanghai, which perhaps does not leave us to guess too much where the production level model is going to be showcased first.

We still do not hope that we get a full view of the concept car and that it does not transfer all of its amazing elements from the concept version as it is just not doable and certainly not production friendly. We do see the 2017 Buick Riviera inheriting a lot of design features from its second concept version model and that it is going to offer us the futuristic look as we expected it to be. The concept was reveled coated with an ice celadon finish which comes with unique gull-wing doors, so it would be quite a blast to see this part become the standard for the production level Riviera.

The most important part of the 2017 Buick Riviera are actually not the looks which the model is getting but in fact it is under the hood what matters the most. The car is supposed to get an all-new, dual-mode W-PHEV propulsion system, which also allows the vehicle to be charged wirelessly using a sensory recharge panel which is placed on the vehicle’s chassis. So could you imagine that?

2017 Buick Riviera exterior

Following the newly released pictures and the news that have emerged it is becoming clearer and clearer that we are very closer to getting a 2017 Buick Riviera, so here are some information that we were able to come by and we are presenting them exclusively in this review.

Exterior concept design

Interestingly enough, there are many peculiar aspects about the exterior of the 2017 Buick Riviera. It has been inspired by a Chinese saying that goes  “The greatest good is like water.” Maybe it is similar to what Bruce Lee said a long time ago, but the Riviera is very elegant and has a vibrant flow to it. The exterior is inspired by a moving river and the overall look is highlighted with the latest waterfall grille by Buick. The front end also gets the new wing-shaped daytime running lights which are a part of the new futuristic look with the Riviera is sporting.

The second concept has a much more raked windshield, which might be the improvement which is going to be transfer for the production level car. It has also a 14-degree fastback design, active grille shutters and diffusers,  a metallic-fiber spoiler and active pneumatic wheels. All of this features are potentially added so they can be brought in for the future model. And the ice celadon finish is perhaps teh best looking part of the car which is inspired by jade and equipped with unique gull-wing doors. This part will certainly get to be a part of the 2017 Buick Riviera fine product.

Interior update

Predicting the interior of the 2017 Buick Riviera is actually much harder. From now and up to a year from now there are a lot of things that can be changed, added or excluded from the final product. But without a doubt the interior is going to be spectacular looking. The latest Riviera brought some very refined materials on the indie like sand-blasted aluminum alloy with lava suede and ebony. The parts from the concept model also feature a very well-structured center console which is complemented with an adaptive seating system and floating seats.

The new concept received a newly developed internet system which is certainly going to be transferred for the production level 2017 Riviera. The car will support a high-speed 4G LTE network and with the help of some new and innovative features the model is going to be able to provide real-time traffic information, real time weather updates and various sorts of entertainment.

As mentioned, the 2017 Buick Riviera is going to have a very interesting drivetrain. In fact it is a part which everybody is excited the most about. Under the hood we are supposed to get the GM’s all-new, dual-mode W-PHEV, which is a wireless plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. It is a proportion system that allows the car to be charged using a a traditional cable but more miraculously also via a wireless  sensory recharge panel  placed on the vehicle’s chassis. This is the most amazing part of the car and we can’t wait to see it. The specs are currently not available but the closer the release date gets more information we are going to get, but early estimations say that the top speed is 155 mph with acceleration to 0-60 mph of under 5 seconds.

The bar is set high by this vehicle so lets hope they make it. The price is still not available as we need to see what else is going to be placed inside but  a figure of around 100,000 USD is not an impossible one.
