2017 Buick Enclave Review

After a long period of waiting, the second generation 2017 Buick Enclave is going to be released. We have had a long period of waiting and anticipation about this model but GM has finally made it clear that the car is going to be available this year. The first announcement came after the newly released spy photos that were provided when the cars was doing its first testing and rounds. Even due to some heavy camouflage it was more than clear that the vehicle is going to go through numerous changes on its exterior.

What we were able to notice is that the model carried over a number of details about its design, which actually enabled us and made it easier for us to distinguish it once the pictures were released. Familiar fender flares are still present here while the standard grille is also used to the front part of the car.

So why does it matter to get the Buick Enclave update now. The model is among the most popular and most sold vehicle coming from Buick and is in fact is third most sold vehicle. With more than 80,000 units sold in the past two years it has reach the heights everybody has expected it to have. Btu as times passes the competition has been gearing up to overthrow the Enclave and make a push to attract more people. Thus this is the best time to come up with a new model that is going to face the rivals.

Here is what we were able to fit in our review and what we were able to find out about the new 2017 Buick Enclave.

2017 Buick Enclave engine

The current 3.6-liter engine that the Enclave uses is going to be replaced and substituted with a better version. The 2017 Buick Enclave is going to adopt a new and improved powertrain that is going to have more power and will provide better performance and ability. They are sticking to the same capacity this time and are going to use the 3.6-liter direct-injected V-6 engine that goes to a power output of about 300 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic gearsifhter is going to make its debut on the model but is going to be available as an optional choice. The entry level vehicles are going to stick to the six-speed automatic one as your base option. The base version also comes with a front wheel drive as well but there is no indication on an all-wheel drive for now.

2017 Buck Enclave design news

As we were able to see from the released photos and the spy pics, the 2017 Buick Enclave is not going to change dramatically. Don’t expect to see a dramatic and revolutionary redesign even if this is the second generation model. They are mostly keeping true to the stuff that works and with the parts that they feel comfortable with. The upright grille that we know and love is still there while the fender flares are still present as well and show us that this is the Enclave model in its glory. But still there are many things under the camouflage that still needs to be revealed. We are going to get a full range of updates that is for sure but we are going to learn more about them once they decided showing more under the camo.

What we have been able to find out is that the model is going to use a new type of a platform though. This is perhaps the biggest change that the Enclave is going to get and something that Buick has been planning for a long time. The car is going to use a new mid-size/large C1XX “Chi” platform, and although a longer wheelbase was announced and was expected we are not going to get one. Instead the new platform brings dimension enhancements to some other areas and parts of the car. What this platform promises to do actually is to shed some weight from the vehicle. They are planning to making the driving dynamics better with this one so a weight loss was something that is in order.

The interior of the 2017 Buick Enclave is a whole other story. The added change include a taller dashboard with a compressed center stack. The sculptured paneling is also a nice touch and looks pretty premium now for the new vehicle. The touchscreen is now more powerful so to say as it is being used to control more parts of the car and gives you the power to control large portions of the car. The hard buttons that have been present in the previous model are gone and have been replaced by softer and more pleasant ones. The steering wheel is updated as well and has some new controls and buttons added which are positioned on the 9 and 3 clockwork position on the wheel. All in all, the inside is completely new and modernized compared to before.

Price and release date

Although we have been getting more an more pictures and information about the new 2017 Buick Enclave, we are still a long way away of actually seeing it in action. The one piece of information that is currently lacking is the release date and we are expecting it to be somewhere around mid-2017 but can easily shift to the end of the year. While we are waiting for the update on the release date we know that the price is going to be somewhere between  $32,000 and $51,000, if we take into account all available trims and levels.
