2016 Volvo XC90 Release Date, Review, Price, MPG – The new 2016 Volvo XC90 is a large seven-seat luxury Sports Utility Vehicle that is set to get its first ever comprehensive redesign for the upcoming year. This will be the first major modification that we will expect the automobile giant to effect on the new Volvo ever since its inception 13 years ago.
The result of the redesign will be a refreshing contrast between the new SUV and the previous version which is currently in the market. Users should expect a combination of typical functional and severe Teutonic interpretation of the level of comfort and luxury offered by other market leaders such as Mercedes, Audi and BMW.
This will be a strong statement from Volvo to its potential competitors who should increasingly be wary of the automobile current and future vehicles.
The vehicle comes supremely ergonomic, quietly elegant and easy to use, while the exterior of the new will remain understated and modest. The interior, on the other hand, will come compounded with the latest high tech features that will guarantee passenger and driver comfort.
The exterior of the new Volvo is conspicuous even to a new user, it comes crisper and more fluid than any of its predecessor. In simple terms, it neither look larger than it should be nor does it telegraph its level of prestige and sophistication.
2016 Volvo XC90 interior
The interior of the new 2016 Volvo XC90 will be composed of high quality materials and a well-though out designed infotainment system that will not only be easy to use but also intuitive. The thoroughly refreshed XC90 will come with new and updated safety features which will either be in passive or active form.
The cabin of the new SUV will make a comfortable seating arrangement of up to seven people and adequate room for their luggage as well. We expect the new Volvo to continue with the long history of providing conscientious design and guaranteed solid durability that will win new customers and retain existing ones.
The interior will be upholstered by high quality leather. The scent of the leather is more obvious and will be complemented by the matte wood which will be layered and will most probably suggests Scandinavian furniture, textured metal and interior strips in stitched leather.
At the centre of the dashboard will be a 9” touch screen display which will respond quickly to the tablet style commands which you cannot only tap but also swipe, stretch and pinch, and will be more intuitive than any of its previous models.
In an overall perspective, the new 2016 Volvo XC90 feels pleasant to be but it doesn’t match up to the premium models of the X5, Q7 or the GLE. The infotainment features are great and would score equally with other German rivals but not the BMW’s iDrive or the Audi’s MMI.
2016 Volvo XC90 engine
Under the hood of the new 2016 Volvo XC90 will be two powertrains that will be offered. The bulk of the models will be the T6 model which will come with a 2L turbocharged four cylinder engine that will be able to generate 316 hp.
The above mentioned engine will come paired to an eight-speed auto transmission system. The AWD will come standard in all models. Unfortunately the fuel economy ratings have not yet been released as yet, but the Volvo is expected to be a more economical SUV.
Whilst on the road, the XC90 SUV handles like a car, with awesome predictable roadholding, good steering feedback and a sprightly performance. The SUV will also come with a T8 ‘twin engine’ plug-in hybrid model that will replace the previously used mechanical AWD, and which provided 82 hp (60kW).
The company quotes the U.S rating to be closer to 20 miles, while that for the European market is pegged on a rating of 25 miles on electricity alone.
The new 2016 Volvo XC90 is known for its safety features and the new SUV will be no exception at all. All new Volvo’s safety systems and new world firsts will be made available on the new SUV.
Some of the features will include the automatic breaking and the Run Off Road Design which will guarantee passenger safety if the vehicle goes off the edge of the road.
2016 Volvo XC90 price and release date
The new 2016 Volvo XC90 will be fairly priced and will go for sale with a price tag of around 50,000 USD. Dealerships have already started to receive the models for display and the T6 models will be delivered in mid this year.
The automobile giant hasn’t priced the T8 plug-in model as yet, but we expect its arrival before the fall of this year (2015). Its towing capacity is estimated to be around 5,291 pounds, and anyone interested in leasing the 2016 Volvo XC90 will have to part away with about $502 per month.
