The newest 2016 Jeep Renegade is the smallest vehicle that comes out of the production line of Chrysler for this year. It is a sub-compact truck which has all the makings of a great setup as it has something that can both please the public who wishes to use this car for some off-roading and also give something to the ones which want to use it as an everyday commuter vehicle. The performance may be a bit dull compared to the engaging styling the vehicle has adopted but it fits the bill perfectly nevertheless.
This car is the smallest vehicle that comes out of Chrysler’s military build complex since the WWII Willys that were produced back then. It is a whole foot shorter than the Cherokee vehicle but as such holds a lot of advantages for other markets that are away from the US. This vehicle is already extremely popular in other areas where smaller subcompact vehicles are needed.
But it appears that the Renegade might find a home audience in the US as well. As there is a growing market for this kind of cars it can easily become one of the top selling ones here. Also as its versatility is very high, there are people who are in need for a cheap off-road vehicle that the Renegade can provide. Given its SUV-like properties it is also going to be a popular daily commuter vehicle for any family occasion. Read the rest of the review and find out just how the specs of the new Renegade are good for any occasion.
2016 Jeep Renegade exterior
The 2016 Jeep Renegade incorporates quite a unique and interesting style. As it holds some stylistic features as well it does a great job of keeping as much of the traditional Jeep like elements as possible. It does such a great job that its look fits better the Jeep lineup than the much bigger Cherokee. It is very tall and upright and has some utility to its design but combines well with a great style. The vehicle incorporates some deliberately oversized parts and details that actually do a great job to emphasize its heritage. The entire vehicle is a well new look which greatly merges the traditional elements in the best way possible but adds just the right amount of style not to make the vehicle lose its identity.
The front part is made even stronger with the incorporated seven slate grille which emphasizes its strength and ruggedness. The headlights have also been redesigned and are very large and have a rounded shape. The lights also get an etched Jeep logo on the glass of them for additional styling. Also the rubber-lipped wheel arches are large and trapezoidal in their shape and also there are a lot of Easter Eggs all over the car that serve as a homage to some older designs. So perhaps the X that is added to the back side which is slapped on the bumper is a homage to the ones seen in the fuel canisters of WWII vehicles.
The inside of the 2016 Jeep Renegade has a design that you might not have expected inside a subcompact vehicle. It has a much more rugged and robust design compared to its exterior looks and it actually puts a very decent setup even like that. The dashboard has some very big and very nicely layout dials and knobs which makes everything work well. The air vents are larger as well and there is a small pod which is fitted on the central upper side of the console that has to air vents resembling a small Wall-E unit from the popular cartoon.
The ventilations on the dashboard have been made to be much larger to than before and are very easy to understand, even at a first glance. The silver trim is present around them and is a fashionable addition to this very simple kind of a design. Used inside the cabin, or at least in the parts where the parts touch the passengers, there are some soft touch materials to make everything more appropriate and better. The soft-touch vinyl is used in most cases and there are also some hard plastic surfaces incorporated as well.
There is an interesting setup but one which is very useful for the 2016 Jeep Renegade. The base engine trim is going to use a 160-horsepower turbocharged 1.4-liter four engine that has 184 lb-ft of torque, This engine option uses a six-speed manual gearbox as its paired transmission option. But there is a stronger option provided to you besides the base version and that is the 180-horsepower 2.4-liter four producing 175 lb-ft of torque. This one is combined with a nine-speed automatic gearbox which is the only transmission system of its type used in any subcompact vehicle on the market.
