Infiniti is looking for a way to rival and compete against the giants in the industry and its new 2016 Infiniti Q60 coupe may be the way to go. Being that BMW has already announced and released its coupe version with the 4 Series, Infiniti managed to get back with their own answer to the problem with the Q60 coupe. This car is going to be a follow up of the Q60 concept that was previously released and is going to be mostly based on the design of the Q50 sedan.
The concept vehicle was released at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show and it showcased an almost ready production vehicle. It is a car that looks as if it is ready to go on the road and tackle the grudge in front of it. The mere fact that there have not been any big announcement about the release date does not mean that the car is not on its way, it only shows us that Infiniti is being couscous about their release.
It was immediately noticeable that the design is based on the Q50 vehicle and that there are going to be major similarities between that car and the newest two-door coupe. We have assumed that the powertrains make it to be similar and that there also may be a hybrid option in play here. While eagerly awaiting the official release of the 2016 Infiniti Q60 coupe car we have gathered the presently known information about it in this review. See the currently available pictures and inspect the stats and specs that the car may have right here.
2016 Infiniti Q60 coupe exterior
It appears that the final design of the 2016 Infiniti Q60 coupe is going to be a combination of the Q60 concept model and the Q50 sedan. It is most certainly going to be that the production vehicle is going to go with the headlamps that are seen on the Q50 and not the ones on the concept. The larger ones in fact seem a bit more production ready and friendly and they will go very well with the front bumper of the car that is based on Infiniti’s current design language that is showcased through their lineup. The grille is also certainly going to be made smaller than the concept model although it will retain its initial design.
There are also going to be a number of production-specific add-ons that are going to include fog lamps, revised mirrors, panel gaps and common Infiniti rims. Also the concept model had some edgy and sharp body parts that are not really production friendly and in order to tip the Q60 coupe more to its production versions they will have to get rid of them. Some smoother and finer liens are going to appear on the production vehicle that are going to be both appealing and appropriate for the car.
The initial interior design seen at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show seems completely possible and doable. The 2016 Infiniti Q60 coupe may possible look completely the same as the concept’s inside, but as that is always a long shot there are bound to be some changes. But in fact this is another example that shows us that we are closer to the production level car. The cabin is going to be well-crafted and well-designed and is going to feature some high quality cues and materials utilized inside. The entire Infiniti lineup has enhanced its interior atmosphere and we assume that something like this is going to happen for the inside of this car as well. The Q60 coupe is going to adopt the fine details that are now a paramount inclusion in every Infiniti car. We may even get to see some carbon-fiber inserts as a special touch.
What is certainly going to change, on the other hand, is the control cluster layout. The one that is seen in the concept model may be a bit too expensive to pull off. Although it may seem nice to have all those gadgets offered to you and a myriad of components that you can play around, it is going to come at a price. In order to reduce that price the designers may go for the layout that is featured in the current Q80 vehicle that seems a tad more appropriate for the production version.
The powertrain may be kept the same as the one seen in the concept model. Given the current strategy that Infiniti is using, it is certainly going to be that the 2016 Q60 coupe is going to use the same engine that was showcased inside their concept model. Thus, the coupe is going to be fitted with a 3.7-liter V-6 that produces 330 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. There is an idea that the engine may be tweaked up a bit in order to deliver a larger output, but if that happens do not expect it to exceed the number of 350 hp.
Another possibility is that the Q60 cope is going to receive both a hybrid powertrain option. This maybe means borrowing the one seen in the Q50 versions which includes the combination of a 3.5-liter V-6 and an electric motor. It is meant to provide a good performance level by being mindful to its fuel efficiency as well. If that makes it to the production vehicle it is going to be a popular choice among the shoppers.
Price and release date
Currently there are no official information about the release date and the price of the 2016 Infiniti Q60 coupe vehicle. If we were to judge it by the price of the current Q50 and add the added gadgets that the Q60 coupe may have, expect the figure of $42,000. The release date is the bigger mystery here but as the car is near production level and almost ready we are perhaps going to wait less than we expected. Expect it to appear by the end of next year.
