2016 Ford F-650 Release Date, Images, Engine Specs, Price – For the past 35 years Ford has had plenty to offer in the truck department. They actually managed to produce more than it was expected from an otherwise automobile based company. Using joint ventures with commercial truck makers and various other companies, they managed oto come up with such vehicles as the F-650 and F-750. This year the ventures and partnerships are gone but we are still expecting the Ford F-650 to return for the upcoming 2016 model year.
The newest installment of the F-650 brand is going to have many changes since before. The old Cummins diesel engine is replaced by a V-8 one while a more quitter cab with a friendly looking inside is offered now. This is something that may come back in a far better way than all the previous versions have had and this change promises to boost the vehicle’s position in the industry and establish it.
The new styling cues are taken from the smaller F-250 trucks and are going to change the exterior and the way people are looking to the inside of the car. This update comes in a great period for Ford as there are some announcements of a potentially new partnership coming. Nevertheless, the new Ford F-650 promises to be a fine addition to the flock of trucks that Ford has been releasing. Compare the newest stats that we have brought to you in this review about the F-650 to your preference and see what the new release is all about.
2016 Ford F-650 exterior
The design of the newest version of the 2016 Ford F-650 trucks has been mostly based on the discontinued line of Ford E-Series Econoline vans. It is actually not a borrowing of the style but actually an extension of it as the F-650 adopts these features pretty well and makes good use of them. The grille part is most noticeable with using the same one from the Econoline but only making it larger for the F-650 exterior design. Not only the grille but the headlights are directly carried over from the Econoline van and also became a part of the permanent design here. After that come the parts which are taken from Ford’s lightweight cabs, thus the hood is borrowed from the F-250 while there are many styling cues that also originate from this brand. Side grilles are also added here and complete the newest design of the truck perfectly.
But the similarities between the light cab F-250 and F-350 are only superficial here as other parts of the truck have a standard F-650 look. The big and massive tires with a huge ladder frame are all here. The fuel tank is placed just beneath the driver’s door and it looks just like the one in a big rig. The car will come off the assembly line only as a chassis cab. Other additions depend on customers and aftermarket supplies. The frame and drivetrain that you get can be fitted with various add-ons like dump beds, ambulance beds, bucket lifts and plenty more.
The inside has not been greatly inspired as the outside of the 2016 Ford F-650. It actually uses the same familiar setup seen in non-commercial Super Duty ones. So a standard and every familiar setup is seen here and if you have already ridden in one of these you will certainly know your way around an 2016 F-650 one.
All of the controls and gauges are placed in the positions that are known to people who drive these trucks on a daily basis, with the only difference being that this one is not as personal like the every day ones. So don’t expect to get leather seats, wood-grain trim panels, nor a MyFord Touch system so get used to using the standard crank windows and an AM/FM radio like in old times and some vinyl seats as well.
The greatest news about the powertrain of the 2016 Ford F-650 trucks is that they have switched the use of their engines from the Cummins to Ford’s own 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 turbodiesel. It is actually the same engine seen in the Super Duty cars but with tweaked up features. This gives the new engine an ability to churn out 400 horsepower and 860 pound-feet of torque. Besides the Cummins engine the gaershifter is also gone, so the new version will do with a TorqShift six-speed automatic gearbox which has a Power Take-Off unit matted as well.
