2016 Dodge Viper Coupe Review

The new 2016 Dodge Viper coupe car is very loud, brash and rough which also makes it very challenging to drive. But it is still one of the most popular car brands and for a performance car it also adds a lot of interior upgrades and comfort enhancements which make its ride quality higher and also aggressive with the overall setup. This car is particularly aimed at those who want a vehicle with displays raw performance, while for anybody else it can be a bit too much.

In a nutshell, the new 2016 Viper is a 10-cylinder engine which has been wedged in between a long hood ornament at the front and two comically over sized tires at the back. Not to take it too far, the car is very loud and shows its teeth immediately after being turned on. The handling is off the charts and is one of the better aspects of this car for sure.

This car is mainly a high performance car, so you are lightly going to take it on longer trips as it is quite useless as it does not provide immense comfort specs. It can be rather punishing if you try to go on a long tour in fact as the car is fast but not particularly welcoming to satisfy the driver’s or the passenger’s comfort needs. If you want something with even a higher performance then there is the ACR  version which is coming back this year and is a track ready option that Dodge offers as well.

When it comes to choosing between this car and the competition you will have to decided on your properties. The competition, which is pretty high, offers much more conventions setups than the Viper, but if you want raw power, than this is the car for you. The newest 2016 Dodge Viper is a sports two-seater car which is going to come available in several trim levels. Thus you can get the SRT, GT, GTC, GTS and lastly the track focused ACR trim. The base is the SRT one and it comes with standard features that include 18-inch front and 19-inch back wheels. You can get your car with a keyless entry and also equip it with a lot of added features The seats are adjustable and offer ample comfort with faux suede inserts and are combined with a  leather-wrapped steering wheel. For your driving purposes you will have the use of power-adjustable pedals and a rearview camera while the entertainment is made available with a 8.4-inch touchscreen and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound audio system with satellite radio and a USB port.

The GT version on the other hand is a little bit more aggressive looking as it amps up the setup with a more racier hood, first of all. It is made available with two-mode driver-adjustable dampers and  upgraded brake rotors and it also has a  taller 6th gear ratio making the driving conditions of this version even better. The comfort is made available with the added six-way power driver seat and leather-trimmed seats. The GTC has the five-mode stability control system and premium leather upholstery on the inside, while the GTS includes the 19-inch front wheels and a 18-speaker premium Harman Kardon audio system for entertainment.

The ACR version on the other hand does its best to save on weight as much as possible. This means that we get a car which has less sound insulation and  lighter-weight carpeting or they have been completely thrown out. But the car is at least fitted with a manual adjustable seats and a minimal three-speaker stereo. But what the ACR is filled with is the  carbon-fiber aerodynamic elements which make the car as fast as it is. It will add  six-piston brake calipers, carbon ceramic brake rotors,  a stiffer suspension with 10 manually adjustable damper settings  and some more aggressive summer tires.

There are actually a lot of custom features that are available here and the car is going to make them available as optional. There are a lot of premium features that you can get on the lower trims, while numerous carbon-fiber exterior and interior additions are also applicable for the GTC and the ATC models.


Under the hood of the 2016 Dodge Viper coupe we expect to get a  8.4-liter V10 engine which is going to make  645 hp and 600 pound-feet of torque. The car is going to combine the engine with a  a six-speed manual transmission which sends the power to the rear wheels and is actually the only transmission option available for the model. According the testing, the Viper is able to accelerate to 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds while its EPA rating is set at 15 mpg combined (12 city/21 highway), which is somewhat poor even for a high-performance vehicle.

Interior redesign

The 2016 Dodge Viper coupe is going to be the third generation vehicle  so they have decided to upgrade the interior look and feel. It is still not something as you would see in luxury and in cars that are from the same segment, but it is a step forward to what we had before. The materials quality is better and is good for an average person, but we feel that if we are going to pay 100.000 dollars for a car that we deserve to get better. But there is a lighter side to this as well as the car is going to receive a Uconnect infotainment interface system which is one of the best parts of the upcoming vehicle.

Price and release date

The 2016 Dodge Viper coupe is going to be released soon as the release date is set for April while the base MSRP price is going to be 94,113 USD for the coupe version.
