2016 Dodge Durango SUV Review

The new 2016 Dodge Durango is a perfect vehicle if you are looking something which is situated just between a crossover and an SUV, but it works both ways and brings a very reliable versatile setup whichever way you take it. But the downside still remains the fuel economy of the car. The model does have everything that you need and is going to give you a comfortable ride, but the only thing you need to overpass is the thirst that the car has.

What makes the Dodge Durango unique in its segment is the setup and the look it offers. It is not your typical carlike crossover vehicle, yet it does not look like a off-road orientated SUV. The model is something in between and it offers us three rows of seats in its now longer setup than it used to have. The architecture that was used to bring us this car is the one seen in Mercedes’ GL-Class and M-Class vehicles, but it does adopt something borrowed form the Jeep Grand Cherokee as well.

Generally speaking, the new 2016 Dodge Durango is a utility vehicle which has immense ruggedness and high capabilities when it comes to beating obstacles in front of you. The car also adopts some very good road manners and when we combine this with the superb performance and the cabin setup on the inside, you get one very capable SUV. We give you the initial review which will help you get a better perspective on the newest Durango model.

2016 Dodge Durango SUV exterior design

What the exterior of the 2016 Dodge Durango brings us is a very nice combination of traditional and contemporary, making it one of the most handsomest three-row SUVs that you can come across on the market. The older versions of the Durango were never good looking as this one. The traditional types were these wagon-like and very rugged models that would have never pulled it off being used as your everyday SUV. But we see from the design of the 2016 model that the vehicle has grown and that it shows a lot of maturity to its look now.

This model is in fact one of the few models in the market who actually managed to adopt teh modern look but still keep to its roots and retain the level of ruggedness they once held. This car has managed to maximize the utility, which was already at a pretty high level before, and make the car cleaner looking. It maximizes the shape and the space of the car and makes the most of it and the results are right here in the pictures as you can see.

You now get  vehicle that has a classic SUV-type of a stance and it is managed with a crosshair grille that also affects the silhouette of the car. Also the models does not arch too much to the sides and is just boxy enough so it does not look too slab sided. The back side does not look like a truck, but you would not think it being anything else in fact. The model has monochrome treatments and a duel exhaust fitted to the back and there is a little bit of sportiness added as well to balance out the ruggedness just enough.

The inside of the 2016 Dodge Durango is completely different compared to what is going on the outside. The model does not carry over any of the truck like features that were present on the previous model. The dashboard has soft and metallic rings placed on the most important controls and are framing them. The most important part of the dash is the touchscreen that is in the middle of the dash and is used to control the infotainment system. The seats are covered in leather upholsteries that have red inserts and stitching which are combined with trim rings that are seen on the dials. This all combines for a very tasteful design of the car and makes the Durango feel like a less on-budget vehicle than before. The model is getting a lot of new exterior colors offered fro your choice, but that does not get to be given for the inside of the car. But the setup is already great and bring so you are not going to need one. All in all, a very nice update and a very tasteful one at that for the 2016 Dodge Durango SUV.

The 2016 Dodge Durango is going to offer a pair of engine choices that are going to be just enough for any situation you decided to use your car. The base version is the standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6  making 290 horsepower (or 295 hp) and 260 pound-feet, and you also get to opt for 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 making 360 hp and 390 lb-ft. Both can be combined with the eight-speed automatic shifter and it helps make the most out of the fuel economy for the car although it still does not do as much as it is necessary to bring it to a more affordable level. To make things bearable, the Durango adds  Fuel Saver Technology  or cylinder deactivation and with the V-6 you get the newest engine stop-start technology. Both models come with an Eco mode The fuel economy of the V-8 is measured at 14/23 mpg, or 17 and it goes up to  14/22 mpg or 16 mpg  for the AWD.
