2016 Chevrolet Equinox Release Date, Specs, Colors, Price, Review – The new Chevrolet Equinox vehicle made its debut at the Chicago Auto Show this year and is getting ready for its official release. The car was introduced to us some ten years ago when the first SUV from the Equinox brand was brought to us. Years of development have led to this vehicle which will lead us to the second generation of this popular Chevrolet brand.
Upon its introduction the car received some great reviews and the situation was even better when the brand went through its major overhaul. It was 2010 when Equinox was greatly remodeled and when it received some major changes. But five years is a long period and the car is due to a checkup or rather an enhancement. This is a great time to make the vehicle more innovative and remodeled it as it is venturing through its second generation stage.
The Equinox competes in one of the hottest markets and the most competitive area of the automotive industry, one needs to be very careful how one does business in this area. So has Chevy needed to tread carefully and only think about how to gently introduce the innovations to the car. The car was already modeled nicely and was selling nicely as well so the only thing it needed was a sort of a youth injection to push it to the next mark. As you can see from the pictures and the remodeling characteristics the car received, it is a welcoming new addition to the 2016 roster and lineup of the Chevy brand.
2016 Chevrolet Equinox exterior
What has changed for the exterior of the newest Equinox is actually not that much. The car receives some updates that are not major but are certainly noticeable. The most changes appear at the very front of the car which includes the new projector headlights, daytime running lights on LT and LTZ models, some LED signature lighting and new fog lights on LTZ models. The grille has also gone through a makeover and it is now much larger, whole the LT and LTZ models have a chrome trim. The side of the vehicle remains largely unchanged. The greatest inclusion here are the new 17 and 18-inch wheels, with the latter option being the standard on LT and LTZ models and the former only an optional one on the LS models.
There are also some obvious updates at the back, still on the lighter side but they are still there. With a new a new license plate applique, some updated dual-element taillights and new lower bumper insert which include the exhaust exists form the newly included V-6 engine. The LTZ model actually has some chrome strips to the lower bumper side as well. Everything else is virtually identical to the previous 2015 model, with the general proportions of the car, the roofline and the hood. All of this will be carried over and will remain the same till the next generation updated comes.
Maybe the updates to the outside remain more noticeable than before but the inside requires a bit of a closer inspection in order to notice all the changes to the new Equinox car. In order to enhance the storage characteristics of the vehicle and include some updated graphics to the car, the center stack received a largely updated look. It is still not much but it is something as the car is not remodeled but actually refreshed. There are some classy elements added as well, like the chrome trimming added to the gear shifter with Electronic Range Selector buttons on top of it. There is an added color option included with this year’s update, the Saddle Up color scheme, and some new updated leather inclusions for the L and LS trims.
Technically speaking, the new Chevrolet Equinox also holds a few tricks up its sleeve. Included are a standard 7-inch Color Touch radio with standard rearview camera on L and LS trims. As safety features there are the side blind zone alert and rear cross-traffic alert which are found only in the LT and LTZ trims. The space inside the car is the same as before as there have been no changes to the shape of the car, so expect 31.4 cubic feet of cargo or 63.7 cubes with the seats folded down.
There is not going to be a change under the hood of the Chevrolet Equinox for its 2016 model. The car will keep its powertrain that was used before and will still use a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 182 horsepower at 6,700 rpm and 172 pound-feet of torque at 4,900 rpm. Even the optional second engine choice is the same as before, the 3.6-liter V-6 with the output of 301 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque. The combined gear shifter is the a six-speed auto transmission which delivers power through a standard front wheel drive or an optional all-wheel one. Fuel numbers are excepted to be 22 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined for the base engine and an EPA rating of 17 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined for the second engine choice.
