Now with every Veyron in dealerships being sold, the automobile giant is considering the next move which will see a new 2016 Bugatti Chiron being released. The Shir-on (correct pronunciation), is reportedly ready to bow sometime next year and will be the successor to the outgoing Veyron.
The new car will most certainly be nimble, lighter and more powerful than its predecessor. This revelation comes after our spy photographers captured images of the test mule making some test drives around the Nurburgring with a somehow interesting equipment placed on its back.
It is worthwhile reminiscing that the Veyron had an amazing run starting in 2005 and lasted through a couple of variations and a staggering thirty dissimilar special editions. It had, however, some shortcomings. Top on the list was the off-set driving position and an unnecessary curb weight which contributed immensely to some negative press.
With the upcoming new model, Bugatti will be offering remedies to the shortfalls that were experienced in the previous models. Some detailed reports allege that the vehicle will be based from the current carbon fiber platform and will have some minor carryovers.
The main carryover piece will be the quad-turbocharged W-16 engine, though will be heavily updated. New add-on will be the direct injection system and two of the four turbos which will be electronically driven in order to eliminate lag.
Exterior Design & Interior Photos – 2016 Bugatti Chiron
The upcoming new 2016 Bugatti Chiron will come with an almost similar shape to the Veyron’s curvaceous haunches, mid-engine design and familiar Bugatti grille. A new interesting feature will be the large front windshield which will wrap around the A-pillars and will connect to the side glass that ultimately ends with in an air scoop just behind the B-pillars.
The overall aerodynamics will be improved significantly and will consequently lead to a gain of around 18 mph on the top speed. Air intakes, on the other hand, over the passenger compartment roof help suck the air for the monstrous W-16 drivetrain.
The automaker is reportedly amending the issues with the Veyron’s slightly off-centered driving position which was a cause for concern for previous users. The cabin will also see the gauge cluster getting a makeover and will now be away from the large center tachometer which will be replaced by the analog speedometer.
Enhancements will also be made on the ergonometrics which will see the switch gear repositioned while the outward visibility will also adorn some improvements thanks to the massive windshield. You should look forward to the vehicle coming with a similar but luxurious cabin which will jam-pack all the luxuries and creature comforts.
Engine Specs – 2016 Bugatti Chiron
Available reports indicate that the previous Veyron engine will be carried over to the Chiron, but will have some performance tweaks done here and there in order to keep it out performing in the competition. As already said, the direct fuel injection system will be added to the 8L W12 engine. The turbo boost pressure will be increased significantly.
Other add-ons will be on two of its four turbos which will be replaced with high-performance electronic turbos that will get spooled by electric motors instead of the usual exhaust gas, therefore resulting in an instantaneous boost whenever commanded.
With this engine specs, the revamped powertrain will now be expected to give the vehicle an extra 300 hp ultimately resulting in around 1,500 hp. The torque will also see a significant output hike to around 1,100 pounds of torque.
Delivering the power to the ground will be the 7-speed dual clutch transmission system and torque vectoring AWD. The vehicle will be able to sprint from 0-62 mph in less than 2.5 sec and consequently clinch a top speed of 288 miles per hour.
Price & Release Date – Bugatti Chiron 2016
The pricing details have not been released to date, however, expect the Chiron to fetch slightly over 2.5 million USD. The release date has also been mystified and no one knows the exact release date not even our professional mules. But we should expect the new 2016 Bugatti Chiron before the close of next year.
The vehicle will definitely have to face off with others in the market which include Koenigsegg One 1 supercar.
