Exterior Facelift – 2016 BMW 3 Series
As is expected from most BMW facelifts, the new vehicle has also received minor changes on its exterior. Most conspicuous feature are the headlamps clusters which are now slightly different from those of the outgoing model, but the news headlines here are the addition of LED technology which come as standard feature on all 340i models.
The lights have also been moved further away from each other, therefore creating a broader stance whilst on the road for added aggressiveness. Around back, the taillights have not been left out of the trending LED technology in its rearranged strips in the new lighting design.
Apart from that, the 2016 BMW 3 Series is significantly identical to its predecessor except for the badges that will be made available with the new trims. The facelift of the model has also roped-in some additional colors which include Platinum Silver Metallic, Mediterranean Blue Metallic and Jatoba Brown Metallic.
2016 BMW 3 Series Interior Changes
Within the skin of the sedan, BMW paid too much attention on giving the vehicle a cleaner, yet premium feel by arranging the high gloss surfaces and chrome highlights that have been spread throughout the cabin.
The central console will now be adorned in high-gloss black and an ambient lighting as well as added chrome accents. Alterations inside also include the newly designed control buttons for the chrome accents for the air vents, electric seat adjustment, a storage area, and sliding cover for cup holders.
Furthermore, the trim finisher in the instrument panel will now extend into all the four doors. In terms of technology updates, the new 2016 BMW 3 Series will feature Navigation system, Head-Up Display, ConnectedDrive, etc.

Engine Specs – BMW 3 Series 2016
Undoubtedly, the most inspiring change is the addition of a new, twin turbocharged, 3L, inline-6 engine dubbed B58 internally. The all-aluminum drivetrain will be able to yield about 320 hp @5,500 rpm and 330 pounds of torque @1,380 rpm for the 340i model variant.
The powerplant will replace the previous model’s engine which was credited in providing 300 hp and 300 pounds of torque. The added oomph will enable the 340i to sprint from zero-60 mph in a record 4.8 sec whilst using the RWD and 4.6 sec with the xDrive.
Down the rim ladder we find the 328i model which will derive its power from the same 2L inline four engine. The powerplant will crank out 250 hp and 258 pounds of torque, an improvement from what the outgoing model cranks out.
Lastly, the diesel powered 328d model will carry over with the same 2L turbocharged four cylinder engine able to produce 180 hp and 280 pounds of torque. The facelift will also see the introduction of a plug-in hybrid model.
