The newest 2016 Audi TTS Coupe has all the makings of a great new car, yet not a howl lot has changed compared to the last generation. This model is being released as the third generation TTS but right tom the start we notice that there are not many new details that are going to distinguish this model from the previous one. The new model is more like a refresh than anything else, but actually, Audi does already have a history of making new vehicles this way so it may not come as that big of a surprise in fact.
But there are some things to b excited about this new vehicle and that is the updated that concerns the engine and also the inside of the vehicle as well. The new cabin is going to adopt a cleaner look which is going to give us a more natural and logical layout that is going to be seen through the whole range of the new Audi vehicles that are being released now.
The updated about the engine is that the TTS is getting a completely new line of engines and the old ones are being thrown away in favor of the new lineup. The engines are being supplied by the Volkswagen group and now you have the choice of choosing a 184 horsepower option or go way up to 310 horsepower if that is your desires. This all comes available with the newest 2016 Audi TTS Coupe car.
The model has already a fixed release date and the pricings are in. Also the new TTS Launch Edition has been confirmed for this year, but will only be limited to a number of 75 cars. Read all about this and more in the review below.
2016 Audi TTS Coupe exterior
As we mentioned, there aren’t many changes to the new 2016 Audi TTS Coupe model. The exterior is a little bit sleeker and sharper looking but all in all it is pretty much the same looking car. The design is now based on symmetry and has a horizontal feel to it which actually results in making the car seem to be positioned lower but look also wider. The new grille is bigger and better and the design of the grille also follows the creases that re made to the side of the hood. This effect actually stretches the car a bit forward, at least visually speaking.
Every other feature of the car has accentuating horizontal lines, this is seen on the headlamps, the side air intakes and the grille as well. The headlamps are perhaps the most interesting and the best new part of the car as its aggressive characters is transferred to the whole car and makes it look as aggressive as possible. They are also equipped with LEDs as all the other cars from the Audi lineup are. The aggressiveness of the TTS is also increased even further with the added large air intakes and the chrome details that are placed on it.
The interior of the 2016 Audi TTS Coupe adopts a clean and organic look by adding curvings, completely the opposite of what we get on the outside of the car. There are still some horizontal lines that dominate the inside but the circular gauges, steering wheel, air vents and many things more break the cycle by making it a bit clear which direction is the car going for. We even see it in the door panels as there are some arched shapes and gentler curves placed inside.
The cabin has a two tone color choice which opens up the cabin quite a bit and makes everything look sharp and luxurious. The dashboard is designed to be minimalistic and is very open and airy and makes for a very nice change to what the previous dark look presented. They also did a great job by combining the main screen for the MMI infotainment system and instrument panel into one. This saves space, weight and money and is now much more useful than you would have thought it of being. The driver is now adequately focused on driving as it does not cause any distractions for him.
2016 Audi TTS Coupe engine
There are several options under the hood when it comes to the engine options for the 2016 Audi TTS Coupe. The people in Europe who are familiar with the latest Volkswagen setup will know what we are talking about when we mentioned that the European market is going to get a 2.0-liter TDI engine with 184 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. This one is good enough for getting to 0-60 mph in just around seven seconds and a top speed of 145 mph. The most powerful engine that the TTS gets is the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine gasoline engine that makes 310 horsepower. It storms to 0-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds which only makes it a half a second slower than the C6 Corvette.
The American market will on the other hand benefit from using the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which delivers 292 horses and 280 pound-feet. The 0-60 mph is a bit better than the European one as it can make it in 4.6 seconds. The top speed also increases to 155 mph and it comes with a to a six-speed S tronic transmission and has the Audi’s trademark Quattro all-wheel drive system.
