The 2017 Volkswagen Touareg is a second generation model car which is going to get a facelift for the upcoming season betting the option that the former model had. The newest SUV actually was showcased publicity at the latest Auto Show in Beijing, China as we were able to witness what the car is going to look like for the next season. We get a car which is slightly more aggressive and it is all thanks to the changes brought to the exterior and the inside of the car but also some new color and wheel choices as well.
The exterior is going to get some bi-xenon headlamps which become standard across the board for the Touareg and brings forth an interesting new option for the car. The interior unfortunately does not get as much enhancements as you would have expected to see but still remains to be a great new offer. There is going to be more leather and an added wood trim which means a more premium look and great comfort features.
There were rumors that there was going to be an engine update as well but as we have seen from the showrooms for now is that it is going to stay the same as before. We assume that this is not going to change until the release date and that the offer stays the same. The only improvement comes with an optimized gearshifter which makes some good shifting choices now for the VW Touareg. A fascinating things is that this model is also going to offer a price reduction which many new models actually do not manage to do. Read all about it here in the review.
The update to the exterior of the 2017 Volkswagen Touareg is subtle but equally noticeable. This is still a facelift, so actually major changes were not expected to happen but the ones that we got are equally appreciated. It gives more presence to the new SUV and makes it look spectacular. The front fascia now adds some large headlamps with bi-xenon lights that are going to be offered standard across the board for the Touareg trims. The new grille that is used is a four chrome horizontal trims piece instead of the two from before and is a great change. The bumper is also completely new and is going to borrow the design form the Scirocco R model which makes the car even more sportier now. Bellow the bumper, you also get a new spoiler piece which helps with eh aerodynamic features of the car.
The rear end includes a new bumper as well which has some LED infused fog lights and also a new diffuser which is flanked by some new exhaust pipes. If you want your Volkswagen Touareg to have more style and chrome you can include the Chrome & Style package which goes a level up and offers an added stylistic view to the car. Customers can also opt for teh new 18-inch and 20-inch sized wheels and there are going to be five new color variants added for the 2017 redesign, bringing a total ot 12 now.
The interior of the 2017 Volkswagen Touareg does not offer anything spectacular and mainly keeps things simple. Those who are familiar with the concept of the car will find their way around the cabin much easier than most. The differences for the 2017 version is that the controls are a little bit switched and that there is going to be a rotary knob for Climatronic which is used to control the running gear, mirror adjustments, air suspension and navigation. Other new features include a push button/display bar placed on the center console which has some added chrome details and features.
The materials have also received some updates. You are perhaps familiar that the Touareg has always used the Vienna leather and this time it receives a fourth hue with the Bonanza Brown color making its debut here. Nappa leather is added in the light sand hue dubbed St. Tropez. Finally there are some Sapelli Mahagoni or Engineered Ebony wood accents added to the dash, control pannel and door panels as well.
The North American public is going to receive the same sort of engines for the 2017 Volkswagen Touareg. This includes a 3.6-liter V-6 FSI engine as your standard choice making 280 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. There is the hybrid version which uses the same engine but bolsters it with an electric one which in turn returns with an output of 380 horsepower and a fairly impressive 428 pound-feet of torque. The final offer is a 3.0-liter V-6 engine which delivers 240 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, but also offers the highest fuel economy ratings with 20 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. The improved eight-speed automatic transmission is a great choice and also comes with a stop-start as standard for all models.
