2017 Toyota Tundra Diesel

The 2017 Toyota Tundra delivers us some great truck talent and has all the makings of a good car. But it still does not hold well against the competition. The Tundra is already and established vehicle by being a full-size pickup trunk and it offers a very good and a very robust pwoertrain. There are some models which we can agree that are noticeably better, but the established fan base for the Tundra is big enough that the car already has a cult-like following.

The Tundra models are also known for its durability and we cannot deny that part. Every Toyota Tundra model has been established with a very strong presence and manages help you in all sort of circumstances. The car is hard and as durable as any of the offered trucks in the market and the 2017 update is going to do it a lot of good.

The 2017 Toyota Tundra comes out with a standard lineup of trims, the SR, SR5, TRD Pro, Limited, Platinum, and 1794 Edition trim levels are all going to be available this year. It will also come with different bed lengths, cab sizes, also rear and four wheel drive, but also different powertrain options one of which is a diesel variant.

The changes that have been introduced will try to make the Tundra a better model. The sales do not show that the car is much behind its rivals. But when we take a long look at it we see that there is a great difference in sheetmeatl that has been utilized, ride quality, fuel economy and comfort. The changes will address some features regarding the comfort of the car and will also push the fuel economy a bit as well but there is still much work that needs to be done around the 2017 Toyota Tundra.

Exterior Reshaping

The exterior design of the 2017 Toyota Tundra is genuinely truck like. But when we go into details is where we notice how different the model actually is compared to its competition and what are the actual parts that the car is missing. In order to keep up with the competition the Tundra received a refresh in 2014 which included a complete makeover of the front end which also saw a new hood and a new grille design added. These elements are still going to be retained and the car is going to build up on that basis.

We do think that the tall front end of the car is too bluff and is an exaggeration for the design of the car. The sides feel more familiar and the tailgate treatment is not bad and makes it seem more rugged. The best part of the car is its rear where a simplistic approach was added and where not much thinking has been made. All in all, the car does have a lot of potential and is seen as fan favorite but one which could do with a lot of improvement in the time to come.

Interior Appearance

The interior of the 2017 Toyota Tundra has its unique kind of a design. All of the controls are oversized which goes with the ruggedness of the car, but the arrangement and the layout of those controls is quite sensible. The driver has a nice view and can see everything clearly and is able to have a nice display on everything. The car does mange to improve compared to some past models where a cartoonish look of the interior has been made. The car does feature a great overlay and is much better compared to what it used to be.

Even though much of the controls seem oversized on the inside, one can control them even using gloves. But what  the best part of the interior is that the overall materials have been improved. This is particularly apparent in the upper trims which have gotten a very nice treatment. There is even a choice in color offered. The 2017 Toyota Tundra gives us a much better display on its interior that it did for the outside of the car.

Engine Options and Power

The base engine option for the 2017 Toyota Tundra model is the 4.6-liter V-8 which helps the model make 310 horsepower and 327 pound-feet of torque. This is a good option and the engine makes a good performance for a rear-wheel drive truck vehicle. But if you want more power the Tundra models are equipped with a secondary offer. The  5.7-liter V-8 engine brings more power and towing capacity as well and it makes 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque. Both engines can be had with a  6-speed automatic transmission and this also allows for better fuel economy for the car which is also expanded with a lot of modifications that the engine has gone through.

2016 Toyota 4Runner

2016 Toyota 4Runner

The 2016 Toyota 4Runner is one of the few vehicles left that stick to a traditional type of a style old school body on frame design. There are quite a few SUVs still out there that follow the same formula and people still want to have some toughness and ruggedness about their vehicle. The 4Runner is just that, it is a truck with a lot of toughness but with just enough of modern ride-and-handling attributes to make it a contemporary ride.

If you are considering buying a Toyota vehicle and aim to take it on the streets and never in your life plan to use it on a different type of terrain than the pavement in front of your house, then you are better off using a RAV4 or the Highlander. But if you are an off-road enthusiast that wants to have some fun with its vehicle that the 2016 4Runner is the best possible solution for you to have.

With the FJ Cruiser out of the contention, the remaining true choice for all of the off-road fans is the 4Runner. And it is a great option to have actually not something that you can just be satisfied with. The model has been updated last time with a larger off-road kit and also saw the introduction of the TRD Pro Series model as well. The TRD models actually enhance everything that the 4Runner actually is and give even more toughness to the regular setup of the car.

The 2016 Toyota 4Runner is an authentic vehicle and may be regarded as a dinosaur by some but it’s one of the few remaining cars that bring that sort of toughness and the sort of a setup that is seen in this one. The beltline is high and the proportions are chunky and the vehicle has a perfect design both inside and out that is perfect for you to use. Check out the entire review to see all the specs and design updates about the car.

2016 Toyota 4Runner engine

There is going to be only one engine option available for the 2016 Toyota 4Runner, but it is an ample one at best. Matted under the hood of the 4Runner is the 4.0-liter V-6 engine that is good to go 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. The engine is appropriate to provide great performance rates both on the road and off-road and is also applicable on highways. The added engine actually makes the car drive much better and helps it perform better than the previous model did. The estimated EPA rating for the rear-wheel drive is at  17/22 mpg while our-wheel-drive versions make 17/21 mpg.

Exterior design

As we mentioned, the 2016 Toyota 4Runner  has a traditional look which greatly distinguish it from other vehicles in the segment. This model is greatly different from anything else that you might see cruising down the roads now. The car has a wagon like look and the enhanced features are made to the front side of the car as well as some chrome details placed here and there or the places where the paint could be scratched when driving through some rough terrains.

The front part of the car has been immensely enhanced, to almost cartoonish like features, as it has become more aggressive with the minor details that were placed. The silhouette on the other hand is a whole different story and it has not changed for a long time now. The side view of the car remains the same as it was the previous years and does not car for sleekness nor any other type of modernization. The back side also sees a more conservative shape and design with a downward-sloping C-pillar  that is transferred form the previous cars that are in this segment.

The TRD Pro Series actually takes the aggressiveness a bit further as it has some distinguishing parts added to its design. The unique elements made here are the unique grille which has the Toyota signature to the front and TRD skid plate visible underneath. The TRD Pro comes with an exclusive color option which is not available for other trims, the Inferno.

Interior

The inside of the  2016 Toyota 4Runner has a traditional look as well, but with a fine eye for details. It is refreshingly designed with a lot of newly added and made additions that make the car useful and also modern at the same time. It seems similar to how the Sequoia SUV or the Tundra have been design but with more fresh new looking details that make a whole lot of difference here.

The controls on the dash are very chunky of course, but it is the precise way they are positioned and the way they are designed that makes everything seem much better looking and highly functional. The off-road related controls are positioned in the overhead console, which makes the center stack of the controls more accessible. On the center stack you can also see the secondary display where also the steering wheel controls access audio is paced and some other controls as well.

Price and release date

The model is getting its release this year. The  2016 Toyota 4Runner has been scheduled to appear on the market around the second part of this year and the base price is going to be 33,810 USD. Of course the price is for the base RWD version.

Exterior Updates

The exterior of the 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid model is going to look like the base non-hybrid version of the car. The only thing which will distinguish the cars are the badging that the car is going to incorporate. The Camry ahs a wide track and a thin grill in its front end. There is also a large lower maw which gets wider and wider as you go downward. The car’s exterior looks pretty bold if you ask us and does have a wide-open catfish look which is particularly pronounced when using the lighter colors of the car.

The Camry does not need to do any drastic restyling like dropping the roofline dramatically low, nor do they blacked out the pillars. They have extended the greenhouse a bit this time but even that elements goes somewhat unnoticeable when viewed for the first time.

The lenses have a swept back look and they come with clear lenses and some nice detailing. In the upper trim levels there are LED features added with daytime running lights as well. The side of the car has a character line which actually starts from the rear and slopes down to the front of the car. Also the SE model is going to incorporate a spoiler in the back for a sportier appearance.

Hybrid Powertrain and Specs

The powertrain for the 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid version is going to remain the same as with the previous one. As the large part of the updates that the base version concentrated on also referred to addressing the engine specs, the hybrid version mainly transfer the lineup from the 2015 version of the car. Thus the model is going to reintroduce the same drivetrain which is the 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder paired with a 141-hp electric motor powered by a nickel-metal-hydride battery pack. This is the setup which Toyota has been using for years for its hybrid models, and as it still proves durable and reliable there is not need to change it.

The specs for the car now give us 156 hp, 156 lb-ft; for the motor and a combined ratio of 200 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque when combined with the electronic battery. The transmission choice remains a continuously variable automatic system. As for the EPA rates, which is perhaps the most important part of the car, they amount to 40/37 mpg city/highway for the SE or 42/38 mpg for the LE and XLE models. The ratings of the new Camry are actually much better than the hybrid competition that it is going up against, the likes of Honda and Chevy models.
