2017 Jaguar XJ Coupe News and Specs

There have been some news about the update for the 2017 Jaguar XJ coupe car. It appears that Jag has finally put out a release date on their flagship vehicle and are presenting it pretty soon. The new car comes with a freshen up exterior, new technologies added on the inside and an offer of different models to chose from as well.

The Jaguar XJ brand has made its debut on the US soil back in 2011 when it first appeared on the market. Till now it has gone a little bit stale and the look has started to lose what it had with its first appearance. An update was more than necessary and we are finally getting one which is going to help put the XJ on track. The main news is that the XJ car is going to use an aluminum construction and also add the latest toys on the inside to play with. The makers are saying that they used a style which is going to sustain the passage of time and also have some aggression with it as well.

What is intermeeting about the Jaguar XJ 2017 is that it is going to offer us eight different variants of the car which also add more long-wheelbase options as well as offers which give more luxury to the lineup. The question remains can the Jaguar XJ go against the competition which is going to be presented by the top selling cars in the segment, the BMW 7 Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which are making great sales. Read all about it in the review and you will find out more about the offer that the latest 2017 XJ gives you.

Exterior

The updated exterior of the 2017 Jaguar XJ coupe is going to continue the tradition of making excellent-looking models. The new model is not going to be revolutionizing but it is actually going to make some additions and tweaks and is going to improve upon the old model in a grandiose way. The changes start with a new front fascia by adding a new larger grille with a mesh pattern. There is also a new front bumper which adds chrome surrounds and added lower air intakes.

The headlights have LED technology and there are also automatic high beans which come as a standard offer. The new ones are also different from the old ones with the addition of XJ-exclusive “Double J” daytime running lamps and the rear end adds the equally attractive LED taillights with oval exhaust tips  down below.

They have planned to enhance the performance of the car by making the curb weight of the car lighter and with the use of all-aluminum construction it was possible to achieve that. Also there is a way of distinguishing the long-wheelbase models and the standard one with the standard one getting some aero enhancements and the former ones have a more luxury orientated design.

Available trims

The 2017 Jaguar XJ is going to be offered in both the standard and the somewhat luxurious long-wheelbase forms. The standard ones are going to include XJ R-Sport, XJ Supercharged, The XJR and XJ R-Sport AWD. The trims with the long-wheelbase are XJL Portfolio, XJL Portfolio AWD, XJL Supercharged, and XJR LWB.

Interior

The interior of the 2017 Jaguar XJ is very plush looking. On the standard wheelbase models you get some soft grain perforated leather seats. They come with contrast stitching, a jag emblem and contrast piping. The R-Sport models  have the eight-by-eight-way power front seats with four-way lumbar support, while the Supercharged ones use 14-by-14-way power seats. These seats are also offered with the XJ R-Sport  if you use the optional Comfort Pack.

The XJL Portfolio and XJL  are perhaps more comfort orientated trims. This means the addition of quilted seating, a diamond pattern on the seats, 4-by-14-way power seats with four-way lumbar adjustments. The XJ models get specially front and rear heated and ventilated seats.

Engine specs

The 2017 Jaguar XJ is going to carryover much of its  V-6 and V-8 engines lineup used before. The engines are going to be characterized by using variable valve timing,  direct injection, a blower, and stop-start fuel-saving technology and also aluminum construction, which is perhaps the most important thing. To get things started is the 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 engine making 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. It has both RWD and AWD as well which is important to have. Next offer is the 5.0-liter supercharged V-8, which can make 470 horsepower and 424 pound-feet of torque, or 550 horsepower and 680 pound-feet of torque. Both of the given engines come with a eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF. The engines may be a carryover but the added specifications about them are very helpful in enhancing the output and making the performance of them much higher.
