2017 Subaru Outback Review, Redesign, and Release Date

Even though there are many vehicles competing with the 2017 Subaru Outback but few come close to the position held by this one. Although the Subaru Outback is classified as a midsized wagon, it does offer more ground clearance than most SUVs we’ve reviewed, and it’s a lot more rugged. It’s an alternative choice for anyone seeking a reasonably priced yet rugged crossover.

Subaru has introduced their ritzier Touring model for 2017 which adds a little more style for reasonably reduced utility. But the company has bumped the safety credentials this year by adding reverse automatic braking to what was already an award-winning EyeSight package.

2017 Subaru Outback

The Outback 2017 has around the same amount interior space as the Ford Edge or even the Kia Sorento. The lower roof makes loading gear easier on top. The rugged nature means that the Outback 2017 makes it a vehicle for the outback or the occasional campsite a few miles off the interstate.

2017 Subaru Outback Exterior Design

8.7 inches of ground clearance, and enough room to fit five passengers the Outback 2017 is available in six trims i.e. 2.5i Limited, 2.5i, 2.5i Touring, 2.5i Premium, 3.6R Limited, and the 3.6R touring. The figures preceding each type of trim indicates the engine capacity.

Standard equipment with the 2017 2.5i Outback includes AWD, 17-inch alloys, a hill holder, hill descent control, rearview camera, automatic headlights, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, roof rails, a height adjustable seat for the driver. In terms of overall aesthetics, we tend to think that it falls right in line with just about every SUV / Crossover we’ve reviewed for 2017. Subaru is not known to take design risks, and so they stick with what works which in this case it’s just slightly changing the design of the 2016 Subaru Outback. Interestingly very little or probably next to nothing has changed between the 2016 and 2017 models except for a few extras.

2017 Outback features a spacious interior

Air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity. A large 6.2-inch touchscreen, four speaker system, CD player and the option to integrate any smartphone are all standard features of the 2.5i Outback Standard. Though the touchscreen requires having a bit of dexterity especially long pressing the radio preset button if you want to program it. But we found the system generally easier to use.

Since the Outback is billed as an alternative to crossovers and SUVs, you’ll find the 73.3 cubic feet of cargo area a pleasant surprise. We like the fact that it’s easier to load items because it’s slightly lower. Another thing we like is the rubber cargo tray which otherwise is an expensive dealer add-on.

Passenger seating space of the 2017 Outback is similar to a midsized sedan. So, it’s comfy, especially the back seat. The overall noise level and interior quality is slightly better than the 2016 Outback and the Subaru Forester. We like the soft touch materials used which are missing in the Forester. 2017 Subaru Engine Specifications

The 2.5i trim is accompanied by a 2.5 liter horizontally placed, four-cylinder engine. It has a good 175 horsepower and outputs 174 pound-feet of torque across all four wheels via the CVT transmission. Our testing showed that the Outback 2017 could easily go from 0-60 in under 10 seconds or more like 9.6 seconds. Yes! It’s comparatively slow because other compact SUVs tend to be faster. However, the engine does ensure 28 mpg for city and 32 mpg on the highway. If you desire more power, we recommend that you pick up the 3.6 liter 3.6R trim with a six cylinder engine outputting 254 HP with 247 lb-ft of torque. Though the EPA fuel economy figures show 20 mpg for city and 27 for highway driving. So, it’s either fuel economy or speed when choosing the Outback.

New 2017 Hyundai Veloster Turbo Release Date and Price

The 2017 Hyundai Veloster Turbo has to be one of the most highly anticipated vehicles to hit the market. But it will have to compete with the lights of the Honda Civic, Ford Focus and Mazda 3 According to many industry experts, the car will revolutionize the auto manufacturer. The Veloster Turbo is geared to be a much more competitive compact car but offers a lot in terms of features compared to others. Since its debut in 2015, it has become very popular with youngsters. However, refinements to comfort, premium safety, and improved visibility are all elements which can make the 2017 Veloster unbeatable.

Hyundai has been tight-lipped about the Veloster so far with information about the upcoming 2017 model being scarce. But that hasn’t stopped dozens of punters online from pitching the upcoming Veloster to anyone who is willing to invest in something they have yet to test drive.

Veloster’s Engine Specifications

The Hyundai Veloster Turbo as the name implies is all about speed and performance. The car has a top speed of 119 miles per hour. The 201 HP engine can rev to 6000 RPM with a torque output of 195 lbs-ft and can go from 0 to 60 in just 8.5 seconds. Despite being labeled a turbo the Veloster’s 1.6-liter T-GDi turbocharger coupled with direct fuel injection has an expected fuel economy of 33 mpg. It’s the same fuel economy of the 2015 model. Interestingly the 2017 Veloster Turbo is exactly the same as the regular model except for enhanced braking, a retuned steering system and slightly less power under the hood.

On the transmission end of things, the robotized 7-DCT dual clutch delivers a great deal of traction directly to the front axle. So, the result is the excellent grip.

Hyundai Veloster Turbo Interior layout and design

The interior of the Hyundai Veloster Turbo 2017 differs from its regular model in terms of interior quality and layout. For starters, the instrumental panel, front seats, and two-tone upholstery offer improved comfort. We especially like the sports seats because they provide lateral support. The steering wheel’s perforated leather makes using the steering wheel a pleasure. If anything, you feel as though the Turbo is a premium quality product. We weren’t able to spot any defects with the dashboard, the side doors or any other aspect of the interior. Perhaps the one thing we would change is to ask for more leg space in the back seat especially if your occupants are going to be above 6 feet tall.

Hyundai has received a bit of bad press in the past for low-quality interiors. However, this time around the Veloster is designed to please. Perhaps even bring back disgruntled Hyundai owners.

2017 Hyundai Veloster Turbo Exterior Design

The Hyundai Veloster Turbo has received a much needed aerodynamic body kit. Now the car looks sportier than the original model and sets it apart from 2016’s model. That said some people might not be big fans of the large trapezoidal grille highlighted with a chrome rim. The body kit does not change the odd trapezoidal look because the look is further accentuated with an oddly shaped bonnet, large bumper, with the rear bumper embedded with the diffuser. Perhaps the saving grace may be the dual pipe exhaust system which extracts slightly more performance from the vehicle.

The Turbo version is a dash larger than the regular one coming in at 425 cm longer and 180.5 cm wider and 140.5 cm higher. There is absolutely no change to the wheelbase and the overall ground clearance. Make no mistake the Hyundai Veloster Turbo is a hatchback which will please in the design department but perhaps not the soccer mom or the advertising executive dad!

2017 Buick Cascada Review, Redesign and Release date

Buick is alive and kicking with the introduction of the 2017 Buick Cascada. First unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, the car has been credited for being comfortable and competitively priced. However, a few downsides could push people to lean in favor of other competing brands. One of the biggest challenges for the Buick Cascada Convertible is that there are many other midsize convertibles out there. The difference with the Casada is that it is classified as a cruiser, so the engineers at General Motors have tuned the suspension accordingly. Drivers can expect a smooth ride with sporty handling.

A sporty and aerodynamic design but one that lacks brilliance or head turning risks

2017 Buick Cascada Engine Specs

The underbelly of the beast consists of a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine. You would expect it to be rev happy but in fact, it’s acceleration is lackluster, to say the least. That said it’s worth mentioning that not many convertibles in this price range are acceleration beasts on the street. When it comes to 0-60 figures, there aren’t any official ones, and that’s maybe because its sluggish.

Buick Cascada Interior

The Buick Cascada Convertible does have an attractive interior layout, but that’s until you actually step into it. The hard plastic materials have the vibes of a low-end car. The array of dashboard switches and various knobby controls make operating it’s few features a chore. We felt that the infotainment system in the Cascada Convertible was dated both in terms of operation and appearance. You’re not going to find features such as blind spot monitoring, or keyless start.

Moving on over to the rear passenger seat and you’ll be greeted with enough room for two large passengers. Access to the back is further made easier with the option to move the seat forward. A large truck is made larger with split folding back seats so you can transport longer items like a clothes’ rack.

Compared to the more luxurious and expensive Audi A3, and BMW 2 series convertibles the Cascada does not offer much. Also, in the same price range are the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible and the popular Mini Cooper Convertible both of which are stiff competitors, fun to drive but don’t offer as much room as the Cascada.

2017 Cascada Exterior Design

The Buick Cascada Convertible 2017 is available in three trims i.e. Base, Premium, and Sports Touring. Equipment with the base model include 20 inch alloy rims, a convertible top, xenon lights, rear parking sensors, heated mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, heated seats, leather upholstery, folding rear seats, a 7-inch touch display, smartphone connectors, voice controls, rearview camera, a 7 speaker sound setup, satellite radio, USB connectors and a CD player.

The new Sports Touring trim was introduced in the 2017 model, and we first glimpsed it at the Detroit Auto show. The trim consists of a unique paint color and strange looking alloy rims. Also, there is a black interior trim and a steering wheel with a flat bottom.

In terms of design the Buick Cascada Convertible takes no risks, and so there is nothing groundbreaking about it. We found that the paint was of reasonably good quality. The lights tapered well with the fenders and the roof retracted in under 10 seconds. However, we’d expect to see something that looked sportier in this price range. That said not many competing vehicles are as aerodynamic or sportier for the price. So, here again despite there being a lot of competing vehicles some people may prefer the Buick simply because it’s conservative design appeals to their tastes. Though others may probably want to spend more on an Audi or BMW.
