2017 Subaru Outback Review, Redesign, and Release Date

Even though there are many vehicles competing with the 2017 Subaru Outback but few come close to the position held by this one. Although the Subaru Outback is classified as a midsized wagon, it does offer more ground clearance than most SUVs we’ve reviewed, and it’s a lot more rugged. It’s an alternative choice for anyone seeking a reasonably priced yet rugged crossover.

Subaru has introduced their ritzier Touring model for 2017 which adds a little more style for reasonably reduced utility. But the company has bumped the safety credentials this year by adding reverse automatic braking to what was already an award-winning EyeSight package.

2017 Subaru Outback

The Outback 2017 has around the same amount interior space as the Ford Edge or even the Kia Sorento. The lower roof makes loading gear easier on top. The rugged nature means that the Outback 2017 makes it a vehicle for the outback or the occasional campsite a few miles off the interstate.

2017 Subaru Outback Exterior Design

8.7 inches of ground clearance, and enough room to fit five passengers the Outback 2017 is available in six trims i.e. 2.5i Limited, 2.5i, 2.5i Touring, 2.5i Premium, 3.6R Limited, and the 3.6R touring. The figures preceding each type of trim indicates the engine capacity.

Standard equipment with the 2017 2.5i Outback includes AWD, 17-inch alloys, a hill holder, hill descent control, rearview camera, automatic headlights, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, roof rails, a height adjustable seat for the driver. In terms of overall aesthetics, we tend to think that it falls right in line with just about every SUV / Crossover we’ve reviewed for 2017. Subaru is not known to take design risks, and so they stick with what works which in this case it’s just slightly changing the design of the 2016 Subaru Outback. Interestingly very little or probably next to nothing has changed between the 2016 and 2017 models except for a few extras.

2017 Outback features a spacious interior

Air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity. A large 6.2-inch touchscreen, four speaker system, CD player and the option to integrate any smartphone are all standard features of the 2.5i Outback Standard. Though the touchscreen requires having a bit of dexterity especially long pressing the radio preset button if you want to program it. But we found the system generally easier to use.

Since the Outback is billed as an alternative to crossovers and SUVs, you’ll find the 73.3 cubic feet of cargo area a pleasant surprise. We like the fact that it’s easier to load items because it’s slightly lower. Another thing we like is the rubber cargo tray which otherwise is an expensive dealer add-on.

Passenger seating space of the 2017 Outback is similar to a midsized sedan. So, it’s comfy, especially the back seat. The overall noise level and interior quality is slightly better than the 2016 Outback and the Subaru Forester. We like the soft touch materials used which are missing in the Forester. 2017 Subaru Engine Specifications

The 2.5i trim is accompanied by a 2.5 liter horizontally placed, four-cylinder engine. It has a good 175 horsepower and outputs 174 pound-feet of torque across all four wheels via the CVT transmission. Our testing showed that the Outback 2017 could easily go from 0-60 in under 10 seconds or more like 9.6 seconds. Yes! It’s comparatively slow because other compact SUVs tend to be faster. However, the engine does ensure 28 mpg for city and 32 mpg on the highway. If you desire more power, we recommend that you pick up the 3.6 liter 3.6R trim with a six cylinder engine outputting 254 HP with 247 lb-ft of torque. Though the EPA fuel economy figures show 20 mpg for city and 27 for highway driving. So, it’s either fuel economy or speed when choosing the Outback.

2017 Outback Release Date

The 2017 Subaru Outback is out right now and can be purchased or leased.

2017 Mitsubishi Evolution

Making an appearance this year is the 2017 Mitsubishi Evolution. This is already an established brand coming from Mitsubishi which is going to bring back some of the features which have made the car popular. The model has been in talks for a comeback and a lot of people have announced already for last year. But in fact the Evolution finally becomes available now and will get to be released come the start of the year.

The Mitsubishi Evolution brand was first issued in 1992 and after that came four generations of the model was also able to release ten different models. A lot of those models have not only won the hearts of fans over the years but it has also won a lot of awards which just shows how far has the car actually gone. What the main point of every Mitsubishi Evolution car is that every new model has improved upon the previous one with added features and refinements.

The newest 2017 version of the Evolution car is going to have a tough stance and come back with more power. We can actually say that it brings a physics defying performance and brings back a style which perhaps might be dated but still holds its own. But the refinements have still to be done, namely on the inside. The interior of the car still has some low quality materials which deserve to be upgraded and they should have spent some more time on the details of the car.

Exterior Redesign for the 2017 Mitsubishi Evolution

The 2017 Mitsubishi Evolution received a light update this time. The car brought back the look from the original model which has not evolved so much as the name said. When the original model was designed the front end or rather the nose of the car was modeled by a shark. Being an ultimate predator the same was intended for the Evolution car. But after a few generations and not changing anything about it the look has become a bit stale. They are still keeping this kind of look which is a hallmark for the brand and that is okay, but there are still a lot of elements which could have changed.

The car is only getting minor tweaks here and there for the exterior. The idea is to keep the car as aggressive as it is and maybe go even further. The car manages to retain these characteristics and adds some more. There are sharp corners and the car also looks wider which all adds to the aggressive style of the car. The look may be a bit stale but we can say that the car manages to keep it acceptable at least for a period of time.

Interior Changes and Updates

The car’s interior keeps the same formula as the outside of the 2017 Mitsubishi Evolution. The car makes its best to keep the old elements intact and just adds a few of the new ones which really do not bear enough weight. the model retains the hollow plastic materials and also uses the basic components from before which have not changed. That is the first mistake and we could have used a bit of carbon fiber additions and even perhaps some Alcantara to make the car seem at least more fashionable.

A good thing about the car is the addition of the Recaro seats which provide enough comfort for the driver. You get enough lateral support and the driver is going to feel great when driving this car. Added are the leather panels and harness straps which have contrast stitching which make it look better and more appealing. The steering is strapped in leather as well as the gearshifter with aluminum pedals as well and an overall driver-centric cabin. The rear bench also provides enough comfort and access to the back is pretty ample.

Power Enhancements and Engine

The power to the 2017 Mitsubishi Evolution is provided by a  2.0-litre turbocharged ‘4B11 engine. This is perhaps the best part of the car and certainly the part which is all business. The model is getting an enhancement and brings a power punch with its new specs and the engine. It is going to be combined with a five-speed manual gearbox which is much more purposeful and provides smoother transmissions compared to a 6-speed one and is the main reason why they decided to go for a 5-speed one instead of a 6-speed transmission. Thus the overall output of the car is now measured at 217 horsepower and 366 lb-ft of torque.

Release Date and Price

The model is finally coming and the 2017 Mitsubishi Evolution is going to be released this year. The release date has been postponed a few times and everybody was expecting the car to come earlier. But as they run into some production problems along the way, as it sometimes happens, and this time managed to stretch too long for the car to really be ready. Thus expect to see the at the start of the year when it becomes available for sale.

The starting price is going to be given at $38,805 given as a base MSRP rate and you can start ordering the car in advance soon as it is almost ready.

2017 Ford Edge

It has been announced that the 2017 Ford Edge will be debuting next year. The release date places it somewhere around the first part of the next year and as we have seen promises us a new and completely updated model with very impressive carlike driving manners. The car is also going to be updated with some amenities that are going to be available even on the base model, making it much more available than before.

The first model of the Edge was produced in 2007. It was just what the industry needed as it presented a midsize crossover SUV which immediately became popular and it was mainly due to its versatility and ability to adapt both the wagon and sedan-like features into an SUV car.

The competition of today’s market is much greater today, so the 2017 Edge is going to have a fierce battle in dealing with the competitors that are already established in this segment. What we are going to get here is a car that is going to be updated with contemporary technology and some styling cues which will be perfect for the new model.

The main competitions comes with the Nissan Murano, Kia Sorente, the new Volkswagen Touareg and the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. But we expect that the 2017 Ford Edge does well in this segment and makes the best out of the things it has to offer. Read the review and find out what the car is going to offer whit its massive update.

2017 Ford Edge Interior and Exterior updates and changes

The 2017 Ford Edge is going to be offered as a five passenger model and will also include different trim levels with the SE being the base one and the Sport trim also confirmed as well. There are many updates that are going to make the car much more competitive and comparable with the current rivals thus the updates are immense and can differ depending on the trim. Thus the SE level does come with a equipment like  telescopic-and-tilt steering wheel, 911 Assist,  automatic headlights, voice recognition, foldable rear seats, a premium audio system and a wheel options that includes 19-inch wheels.

The SEL version is going to be a bit more updated and upgraded as it is going to focus on some more advanced features. With the Ford Edge SEL you can get the eight-way power adjustable driver seat, dimming rearview camera, exterior heated mirrors,  automatic climate control,  leather wrapped steering wheel and some advanced features like keyless ignition with a an exterior keyless entry pad. For this trim you can also add the Equipment Group 201A package, which extends your offer and adds even more advanced amenities and additions inside the car.

The highest rated trim vehicle is going to be the Ford Edge Platinum trim of course. This one has got it all and includes a near full package of all the things you may need inside your vehicle. The 19-inch wheels come as standard here as well but adds some other amenities like  heated front seats, a hands-free tailgate, reclining front passenger seat, driving memory setting and some newly designed LED taillights.

The base trim also has the option of choosing one with a sunroof, but this is a feature that is available optionally when you purchase your car. It also adds an optional Technology package which adds some advanced technological equipment to your Ford Edge with additional power outlets, bumper protection,  auto-dimming driver mirror, side exterior mirror, a perimeter alarm, a navigation system and more.

Finally, we have the top of the range Titan trim which is the highest you get with the 2017 Ford Edge. Inside we have expect the rear heated seats some other futures which add parallel and perpendicular parking options, steering heated wheels, an automatic parking system, lane keeping assist and more.

Engines and specs

The 2017 Ford Edge is going to give us a few options to chose from when it comes to the powertrain. The base version is turbocharged 2L 4-cyl engine that provides us with just enough power for the segment and is in fact a suitable option all in all. The output is measured at  245 horsepower and 275 pounds of torque and uses the 6-speed automatic transmission system also. The EPA ratings for this engine are measured at 20/30/24 mpg in the city/highway/combined, for the FWD option which can be pretty admirable, while the AWD options goes to 20/28/23 mpg.

The secondary engine option is rumored to be the  3.5L V6 engine. This one is able to churn out 280 horsepower and 250 pounds of torque and is going to be certainly available for the SE, SEL, Sport and Titanium trims. With the output of 280 horsepower and 250 pounds of torque and an EPA rating of 18/26/21 mpg with the FWD and 17/25/20 mpg with the AWD, it is an appropriate engine option for these levels of the car.

2017 Ford Edge price and release date

The release date of the car has yet to be confirmed but many indications are already placing it in the beginning of 2017. We are fairly certain that the new 2017 Ford Edge is going to appear by then. The base price would be somewhere around $29,100 as base MSRP for the SE trim, while the higher ones will add more value to it.
