The newly announced 2017 Subaru Legacy has been announced as a sophisticated vehicle which has not only up the ante in the exclusiveness but it size as well. The model which was originally introduced as a small vehicle has steadily grown after its debuted in 1990. This 2017 model is the culmination of growth both in its physical aspects and interior aspects as the car now holds a multitude of updated features that are going to be a very important part of the car.
During the 2007 period the Legacy was offered both as a wagon and as a sedan, which struck us as odd as Subaru also offered their Outback model at the same time which was essentially made on the same platform as the Legacy, which resulted in two vehicle with the same properties. This time they have separated the two and fans can get the Outback if they want a midsize sedan or opt for the Subaru Legacy is they need a midsize sedan.
The latest update of the Subaru Legacy came in 2015 when the car got a lot of interior and exterior modifications. The 2017 is going to bring us a light refresh as major changes are not needed in this stage. Some major issues were already addressed with the previous update so we do not see the reason of tampering with the car too much now.
Some changes that get to happen and have been announced are concerned with the powertrain of the car. There are going to be certain updates for the Legacy which are going to be followed by some changes for the exterior. We are in for a much more effective and power saving vehicle with the 2017 Subaru Legacy that is going to get its release date soon. Read some more of the review to find out more.
2017 Subaru Legacy engine specs and performance rates
The recent news about the 2017 Subaru Legacy is that the old 3.6-liter engine is going to be replaced with a new one. It appears that the engine that comes into play is novel six-cylinder one which is going to make the performance higher and the fuel consumption lower. There are many changes announced for this engine which are going to tweak the power up to the desired level and the Subaru team has incorporated it very nicely into the mix that is the new Legacy going to be.
The car will also use the four-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine option which makes 173 horsepower, which was used before and also come as one of the options here. But the latest news say that the turbocharged 2.0 liter six-cylinder engine is going to pump out 250 HP and 258 lbs. This engine has been used on the Subaru Forester before and proved really effective and thus the decision came that it is going to be used for this one as well. All of the available engines for the 2017 Subaru Legacy are going to be combined with a continuously variable transmission system which comes as standard or a manual transmission as optional.
It appears that the 2017 Subaru Legacy is going to maintain the appearance of the previous model, at least for the better part. The update for the previous model just came out and replaced some of the exterior details that were regarded as problematic for the Legacy, thus we do not see many changes happening for the future model. The sheet metal is going to be completely the same while the dimensions of the car are also going to remain intact, despite some altercations being that they were supposed to be changed
Subaru maintains the policy of reconstructing their vehicles on a five year period and they have done the same with their Outback mode. They are sticking to the same formula when it comes to the Legacy and are only making major changes in the powertrain while all other major updates are going to come a bit further into the future. The small changes that get to appear are going to consider the headlamps and the taillights which are going to make the vehicle fresh for its new release.
The interior is not going to be tampered as much as well as they are basing the 2017 Subaru Legacy mostly on the outgoing model. The only changes that we get to see is the inclusion of some features that are going to come as standard on the car which weren’t with the past models. Thus the car gets a Starlink touch screen infotainment system with a back up camera, Dynamic Torque Vectoring for quicker handling, Permanent balanced all-wheel drive mode, the Vehicle Dynamics Control to shun skids, anti-lock brakes, keyless entry, air conditioning and power windows with power mirrors.
