2017 Nissan Frontier Review

The new 2017 Nissan Frontier has been announced. Actually it is more of a refresh than anything else as the truck carries over much of its equipment and setup while updates only a small portion of itself. There have been a lot of new entries made from the competition in its segment and the rivals are campaigning for the number one spot with some pretty convincing claims. The newest update is not going to give the Frontier the number one spot but it is going to provide us with fresher look for a great car.

What the most notable changes included for the Frontier are the new exterior color pallets that are going to be offered and also the new Crew Cab SV version gets a moon roof as well. Virtually everything else is the same for the Nissan Frontier as this midsize pickup truck has not gone though many changes all-together from the day it received its last major update in 2009.

But the 2017 Nissan Frontier is still going to be a competitive offer on the market, it has a lot of qualities that make it a great and useful vehicle and they go beyond mere looks and aesthetics. With a boxed frame, two available engine options, cargo management gadgets, an all-wheel drive and a very good manual transmission which is present for all the available trims that are going to be released. Despite the competition of the Toyota Tacoma and Chevy Colorado, those trucks cannot bouts with the same kind of a setup that the Frontier has.

There are even some speculations that after this update a new completely new Nissan Frontier is going to come out, but this is still not confirmed as Nissan is currently busy in producing and outputting its 2016 Titan XD and the 2017 new Titan model as well. As the new Canyon, Colorado and Tacoma models are scheduled to be released in the future, the new Frontier model will strike certainly then. But for now lets concentrate on the thing that we got and read the review about the next 2017 Nissan Frontier.

2017 Nissan Frontier exterior design

The exterior style of the 2017 Nissan Frontier is pretty standard and traditional and we cannot deny that it is likeable. With a classic small grille to the front, a standard roof rack that is available on every trim, large fender flares and actually everything else, it is a model that looks the part but also acts the part as well. The car also comes available in various setups, but there is not going to be a regular cab version, instead we are getting a new option which is the King Cab, the extended version, and the Crew Cab, the four-door version. With this cabs you can also get a 5-foot bed or also opt for a 6-foot bed as well, but availability differs depending on the trim level.

New with the 2017 update are the new color choices that are available for your Nissan Frontier. You can now pick from the newly offered Forged Copper, Gun Metallic, and Magnetic Black color options which are going to be added to the already available  Glacier White, Cayenne Red, Brilliant Silver, Lava Red, and Arctic Blue Metallic. The Crew Cab SV model now gets an available moonroof which was not offered before.

Interior update

The inside of the 2017 Nissan Frontier also goes for a classic look. But unfortunately it does not go well for the inside as it worked for the outside. Much of the inside looks dated even despite the hard plastic inserts and the ergonomic look. The car sports a bulky three-spoke steering wheel with a pretty chunky shifter and also adds a small navigation screen, all things that make it less desirable. But we cannot deny that it is functional, so if beauty is not your concern the car is going to support you during long rides and it even offers you six optional color pallets for the inside which are available for different trims.

The spacing is good but the King Cab version does not have a lot of comforts at the back. If you do get to use this car avid using the back seats as they can get pretty cramped for adults, instead put your kids in there as they may feel much more appropriate there. This is because it uses the  old-school fold-down seats in the back that do not offer any support and only make things worse for larger people. Instead the Crew Cab has a much better seating arrangement and has improved it from before despite offering smaller seats compared to the Tacoma and the Colorado versions.

2017 Nissan Frontier engine specs

The new 2017 Nissan Frontier is going to be available in two engine variants. The first choice is the 2.5-liter four-cylinder version which is going to be the base one and will be restricted for the King Cab. This one is able to make 152 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque and is a regular kind of setup good enough for everyone. But if you want an added push and some more power you can get the 4.0-liter V-6 engine which makes  261 horsepower  and 281 pound-feet of torque. It is very surprising that both the engine variants are going to be offered with both a manual or automatic transmission, the King Cab gets a  a five-speed manual, while the V-6 engine combines with a six-speed manual  one in the Crew Cab. The only automatic version is a five-speed unit. The Frontier is available in both 2WD and 4WD.
