The 2017 Lexus GX model is coming out again this year and they are hoping to attract more audiences with its redesigned vehicles. But the GX redesign is not so much as a redesign but perhaps an update as they still have not made the important step in making their model less robust. Instead they are still focusing on the main issue and keeping with the old-school style that the old SUV crossovers have.
The Lexus GX perhaps feels enormous on the road. It presence is massive and it is mainly due to the fact that it is going to still share underpinnings with the Toyota 4Runner model. The second generation of the GX came out in 2009 when the issues were addressed a bit and we got a model with a revised engine and better suspension ability, yet it still came with that body-on-frame look as it had form its debut in 2002.
The newest 2017 Lexus GX is going to be a slightly redesigned version of its 2014 model. The changes are not that great but they do exist and they do not end up merely by adding a new optional paint job as they also mean a few tweaks for the visual upgrades of the car and some technological interior upgrades as well.
Maybe the 2017 Lexus GX version is not the care you have expected it to be, but it does still have a four-wheel drive system and a three-ton towing capability which is going to allow it to tackle some rougher terrains and also seat seven people at the same time. That are some solid specs and will certainly make buying a GX model worth it. Read more of the specs in this review and see what is your opinion about this car.
There are some good sides and bad sides about the look of the 2017 Lexus GX model. In fact the front end might be considered as a bust by most and it is due to the added spindle grill which has been tweaked up a bit compared to the one seen before hand. It kind of a goes a little bit overboard and makes for an exuberated option.
Other parts of the Lexus GX are quite handsome looking as they still keep an appearance of a traditional looking SUV model. There are some large sides with some imposing cuts and crease added here. Also there is a large running broad integrated into the side of the vehicle and it combines with some nice looking chrome roof-rails. Contrasting it are the rear glass and pillars which are darkened and there are finally the 18-inch wheels that also work well for the car also.
The rear end is actually much more functional than it is handsome to look at. The rear gat does not open the same way as it does on any other typical SUV model that you have but actually has a barn door that swings open from the left. Considering the height of the care, this is a great choice for the model to go on.
The interior of the 2017 Lexus GX is a typical Lexus model and you will immediately notice that made changes. The only thing that we can say does not fit here is that it all looks a little bit dated. The interior was perhaps a good choice before but we would have expected more upgrades to be added here. This still keeps the inside of the car as luxurious as it comes and puts the comfort levels as very high but there was still room for more.
But once you past the looks and start addressing the usability and the way everything feels together you can easily accept this car the way it looks now. The models adds some soft animal hide seats and wood trims placed on the dash which provides enough sound insulation for the latest sound system that was added. From the ergonomic point of view, the car looks perfect. There are many adjustable options which are going to allow you to adjust everything just the way you wanted it to be. So the car does not have any futuristic additions or appearance features, but does do the thing it is meant to do.
The second generation of the GX saw a revolutionary change which is still maintained for the 2017 Lexus GX model. They are still sticking to the same kind of engine that was introduced back then and it seems that it is more than a suitable option to use it. The 4.6-liter, V-8 engine wears a designation 1UR-FE and acutely makes it a lot similar to the Lexus LS model. But this one manages to churn out 302 horsepower and 324 pound-feet of torque. The transmission choices for the car are going to include the electronic six-speed automatic transmission and a full-time 4×4 system and the car will also come with such features like the Crawl Control, Downhill Assist Control and Active Traction Control for its powertrain. And also the EPA ratings are not too shabby which leaves us with 15 mpg in the city, 20 mpg highway and 17 combined.
