2017 Lexus GX 460 Review

Lexus is bringing us an update for the entire lineup and the 2017 Lexus GX 460 is one of the premier one of them. Actually the latest GX460 is going to feature an update which for the most part changes the looks of the care which is not the case for other models. For instance, the LX 570 looks pretty much the same and has not changed so much. The recently announced Lexus GX 460 has received an update and will be featured soon.

The small but sturdy 2017 Lexus GX 460 is not going to differ much from its bigger brothers in road ability. It is a road ready vehicle which has been updated with a new striking front grille  and has huge rear fender flares resembling that one of a baja race truck. It also adds  LED taillights which emphasize the rear end of the car a bit and gives us a more familiar profile with those inclusions. Still the GXC 460 is not the sleekest model in the market and mostly resembles the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado model based on its looks.

We can view the 2017 Lexus GX 460 as one of the few remaining and surviving off-road vehicles with a body-on-frame GX V-8. Its popularity actually started growing in the US market in recent years which was actually the main cause for the updated to happen. The inside tires to be as classy and exclusive as any Lexus car, but once it starts to move you immediately notice its truck features and see the car for what it really is even despite all the leather and quality materials that have been added now.

Besides the release date, there is another interesting piece of news about the 2017 GX 460 made and that is about the price. It appears that this model is going to miraculously feature a price cut which is more than good news for the fans of this car. Check out the review and find out about other specs about this car.

Exterior design

There are going to be initial changes made to the front of the 2017 Lexus GX 460 model. In fact owing to the success of the Lexus LF-LC coupe concept model which debuted a redesigned now and front end of the car, many Lexus and Toyota vehicles have been following a similar formula and have redesigned their models to fit the one seen there. Of course, no one has been able to mimic the look of the grill successfully and completely but in fact many models are going for that sort of a look and design now and as for the GX 460 it incorporate it by offering us a tall but bluff front end and adds some drooping air vents that do not sit well with us in fact.

But there are some additions that we like very much like for instance the LED daytime running lights with LEDs that are positioned in headlamp edges. It makes the 2017 Lexus GX 460 very bright and successfully looking driving down the road and makes it much more attractive. This additionally provide better visibility in various situations that you plan to take your car. It also combines with the adaptive xenon projectors. But the clear taillights look a little bit strange. Perhaps the fans are going to appreciate them more in Japan where they are mostly used but it does look a bit strange seeing them on a vehicle for the American market.

Interior update

Inside the 2017 Lexus GX 460 there are not many updates made as stylistically it looks more or less the same but there are some added features that we are happy seeing. One of them has to be the 8-inch touchscreen added for the infotainment control which you can also use to operate the navigation and the backup camera.

The seating position has been copied from the Toyota 4Runner model but this one has a larger floor made for it and with the vertically redesigned steering wheel it allows better visibility for the driver. The dash has been updated as well and it looks pretty great as it got a  full stitched leather treatment and some new wood color choices for this year’s model. The major downfall is the seating position in the back as it can get a little bit tight as the GX 460 still intakes seven passengers.

Engine performance

There is no news about an engine update for the latest 2017 Lexus GX 460. Thus the model is going to continue with the same kind of engine and is going to bring back the sweet V-8 model it road in the past with. There were some indications that a 3.0-liter four-cylinder diesel could have been added which is seen under the hood of the Land Cruiser Prado models, but the GX stays true to the one that fans love and cherish. The output remains at 01 horsepower and 329 pound-feet  and the model is going to combine the drivetrain with a very responsive six-speed auto transmission. The specs thus give us an acceleration performance of 7.8 seconds to reach 0-60 mph and a top speed of 110 mph, which is actually electronically limited.
