After some time of testing the vehicle the 2017 BMW M6 Gran Coupe if finally here. This promise to be BMW’s most promising and most powerful vehicles. The announcements that were made and which came with this model gave the fans a lot of things to be excited about and after the release date we will see if it is truly so. This idea came with the refresh for the 6 Series Gran Coupe models so it was natural that a M6 model was to follow.
The newest M6 Gran Coupe is going to follow the formula of any other Gran Coupe inspired car that came before it and this time it is going to pack a lot of interesting additions. The model is of course going to be very aggressive looking which will be distinguishable in the front fascia and the rear end of the car. But equally well good looking are the added M-type elements which the model gets, 20-inch alloy M-light wheels and a quad-exhaust system. The interior also gets some favorable updates and we also get a slew of M elements on the inside as well with a lot of Alcantara leather and carbon fiber placed on the inside.
The unveiling of the car came with the video post that showed that the car is being made but the official live showcasing is going to follow suit as well. The release date is expected to be a little bit after that but as the price rates have been revealed as well it left us no choice than to devise a review about this new model, so keep reading.
The 2017 BMW M6 Gran Coupe is going to feature the same type of design features that you would expect form an M model. The BMW M6 already looks great and on its own can compete against many models already. Giving it an M badge and the Gran Coupe refresh is something that only expands it and makes it even better. The front end of the car has large air intakes, a kidney grille which has been specially designed for M model vehicles and also flanked by adaptive LED headlights.
There are some newly added rear doors here as well which also result in a 113 mm-long wheelbase. The C-pillars have also gone through a kind of a redesign which actually emphasis the car’s dynamically stretched silhouette. The rear end of the latest M6 adds an integrated apron and a diffuser which comes made from carbon-fiber reinforced plastic. There is a twin exhaust tailpipes system which is placed just at the outer edges of the rear apron.
Other M elements of the car include aerodynamically optimized exterior mirrors, standard BMW Individual High-Gloss Shadow and exclusive 20-inch M light-alloy wheels that come in a double-spoke design. Additionally, the roof is made out of carbon fiber and combines with an anthracite-colored Alcantara roof liner.
The interior of the 2017 BMW M6 Gran Coupe is going to retain the same kind of a design that the base BMW M6 has and is going to build it up with some added Gran Coupe features and M elements. This was an expected fact so there was no added excitement here, but once you see what the additions are it is hard not to scream. Some of the standard ones include a leather trim, heated driver and front passenger seats, BMW Professional radio with hi-fi loudspeakers, automatically dimming rear-view and exterior mirrors and 2-zone automatic climate control or a 4-zone system with a control panel in the rear compartment – offered as an alternative.
The optional ones are heated rear seats, M multifunction seats, a heated steering wheel, electrically operated sun blinds, Soft Close Automatic function for the doors and a Bang & Olufsen High End Surround Sound System. We also get some added features like an M-specific BMW Head-Up Display, a rear-view camera, Speed Limit Info, high Beam Assistant, Lane Departure Warning and plenty of things more.
We have a pretty impressive setup placed under the hood of the car as the 2017 BMW M6 Gran Coupe meets our expectations engine-wise. The chosen one is the 4,395 cc (4.4-liter) V-8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo 560 horsepower between 6,000 and 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 502 pound-feet between 1,500 and 5,750 rpm. This engine can manage to accelerate to 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds and the car can also boast with a 155 mph, electronically limited, top speed or a 189 mph top speed with the M Driver Package. The transmission choice is a seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with a Drivelogic electronic management system. The car is limited to an EPA rating of 16 mpg range and a232 g/km of CO2 for gas emission ratings.
