If we are talking about mid engine vehicles we certainly mean Acura, and it just so happens that we are getting a 2017 Acura NSX Coupe release soon. Some people say that the Nissan GT-R is the best thing that came out of Japan but they have clearly not considered the vehicle in question here. The model is being released again and is certainly the highlight of the roster that Acura is planning to release soon.
The first Acura NSX came out on sale in 1990 and was fitted with a 3.0-liter V-6 and later refitted with a 3.2-liter V-6 which cranked up the power to 290 horsepower. Despite the fact that it did not put out the numbers as you would expect from the supercars from that era, it did managed to impress with its curb weight. The car was able to speed up from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds which quickly came down to 4.8 seconds. But unfortunately the production of this vehicle ceased in 2005. So the upcoming model is going to be something that is going to rives this legendary brand that the fans have missed so much.
O the original NSX made its debut a quarter of a century ago and this new model and the second generation of the vehicle is in many ways different from its predecessors. The only thing which remains the same is the engine configuration, the number of the cylinders that is going to be used and the positioning of the engine, everything else is virtually different. This model is going to add a twin turbocharged engine option and is also going to extend its offer with two electric engines that are going to bolster the performance and for the first time used in this model there is going to be a nine-speed transmission system utilized.

2017 Acura NSX exterior redesign
As it was highly expected, the new model 2017 Acura NSX is going to adopt a similar design which was showcased with the 2013 concept that was released. The front part, for instance, has been carried over completely and features an Acura trademark which is the beak that has a massive grille that takes over most of the front end of the car. The bumper part is also the same as the air inlets have also been transferred here and are carried over completely intact as well.
But there are some subtle changes here and there that are very noticeable but only in closer inspection. The splitter sticks underneath the grill while the blades separate the grille part from the side intakes. The silver ornament placed on the front end is also a bit different while the car also has revised headlamps with new graphics and LEDs. The hood is different, as it has two vents positioned above the wheel arches.
The back side also carries over with little changes. The biggest change for the back side is the position of the exhaust tips where now the four of them are positioned in the middle rather than on the side of the vents.
It appears that eth interior of the 2017 Acura NSX is not going to be so rich in details as the concept version was. The interior of the concept vehicle had massive array of leather and carbon fiber, which we are not going to see here. Instead we are getting some aluminum inserts and the Alcantara leather is only going to be possible for the higher trim vehicles or offered as a special package.
The center console is more production friendly compared to the concept, the buttons and the knob design is greatly borrowed from other Acura vehicles and is completely noticeable but the vents that have been included in the concept have also been removed or changed here. The good part of this interior design is the flat bottom steering wheel which gives it a more racing like design and sporty vibe and a high tech control cluster that is going to be a joy to use.
2017 Acura NSX engine performance
Specially for the 2017 Acura NSX a twin-turbocharged, 75 degree V-6 is going to be developed. The engine will combined direct injection and port injection along with Variable Timing Control which enables maximum camshaft phasing. The powerplant was designed in order to bring the best possible balance of overall compactness, power production, and reduced mass. The engine is also going to be paired with a internal combustion engine and three electric motors. Two of the electric motors are going to be used to power the front axle. The T-shaped lithium-ion battery is going to be positioned in the middle while the third electric motor is placed between the engine and rear-based nine-speed DCT.
All of the changes made to the powertrain are going to result with an output of 500 horsepower from 6,500 rpm and 406 pound-feet from 2,000 rpm. The front mounted motors generates an output of 36 horsepower and 54 pound-feet of torque each and sends it to the front wheels, while the motor between the engine and the transmission makes 47 horses at 3,000 rpm and 109 pound-feet from as low as 500 rpm. The 0-60 mph acceleration is achieved in 3.5 seconds.
Price and release date
The2017 Acura NSX coupe is going to be available by next year as the release date is scheduled for it to appear at the beginning of the year. The car retails from a base price of $156,000 or tops at $205,700.
