2016 Lincoln MKX Release Date, Price – Ford announced its intentions to triple the sales volume of its luxury brand by 2020 and has prompted its Lincoln’s production unit into full swing. The triple increment is a long term project objective while the short term goal remains focused on China which it underpins its hopes on increased sales volumes which will account for the majority.
The arrival of the MKC and MKZ were just but the first steps into the market. Now comes another step which will be the 2016 Lincoln MKX SUV. The American based brand gave Lincoln’s enthusiasts some glimpse on what we should expect from the new crossover during the 2014 Beijing Auto Show which will be handled by the following review in detail.
But the big question is whether or not the production model will derive its inspiration from the concept either wholly or partially. However, at the beginning of this year (2015) the auto maker unveiled the new 2016 Lincoln MKX during the 2015 Detroit Auto show and judging from the exterior of the new car, it has not quite deviated much from the concept.
2016 Lincoln MKX exterior
Considering most fresh Lincolns, the newly redesigned 2016 Lincoln MKX represents a very momentous departure over the previous model especially in terms of the outside look and overall specs. The crossover received the brand’s corporate demeanor which encompasses blade like headlights, split wing grille and an overall elegant profile.
These deserving changes will sure give the new 2016 Lincoln MKX a well-balanced appearance in contrast to the previously boxy one. The new crossover is also dynamic and sportier than any of its predecessor. It will showcase a muscular posterior look, sloping roof, wraparound taillights, revised rear apron and burly fenders.
Additionally, the new 2016 Lincoln MKX will be offered in Select, Premium, Reserve and Black Label levels.
2016 Lincoln MKX – Interior Design
Similar to the exterior, the interior of the new 2016 Lincoln MKX is also in the race to win a gold medal. It will merge features and styling cues previously seen on freshly released luxury vehicles.
The updated departments will include the soft leathers, refined surface and improved safety and technology features. These facelifts will undoubtedly keep the new MKX top of the luxury segment.
Every inch of the interior that does not have metal or wood accents is intricately finished with high grade leather and a variety of colours. The main highlights in the cabin which will be provided as options to buyers will include the premium Revel audio system and the 22 directions electric seat adjustment.
The list of standard equipment is long and impressive at the same time, the features will include a 360 degree rotating camera system, pre collision assist, automatic perpendicular and parallel parking, cross traffic alert and others.
The 2016 Lincoln MKX is however far from being perfect especially considering that the auto maker did retain the dashboard layout which is based on the Ford Fusion platform.
Engine Specs of New Lincoln MKX
Engine wise, the new 2016 Lincoln MKX comes equipped with a choice of two engine options which will either be two or four wheel drive. The first engine will be a 3.7L V6 which will be able to generate up to 300 hp and 280 pounds of torque.
The second engine will be a 2.7L Eco-Boost V6 engine that will have an easy time producing 330 hp and 370 pounds of torque. Both engines will be paired to a 6-speed auto transmission unit.
The engine variety is in real sense unnecessary given that the two powerplants have a very small margin of 30 hp. The reason behind the auto maker keeping the 3.7L V6 engine for the MKX is still shrouded in mystery. However, the auto maker might have provided it so that the SUV comes with two engines instead of one.
In spite of the engine being made available, I still have a hunch that it will be shown the door pretty soon. The 2.7L engine will be no-brainer according to me, since it is still powerful than the Cadillac SRX.
2016 Lincoln MKX price and release date
The current MKX in the market retails at 38,900 USD, so I expect the new 2016 Lincoln MKX msrp sticker to ascend to somewhere around 40,000 USD. With that price the MKX would leave the Cadillac SRX with a staggering 3,000 USD.
During the unveiling of the new MKX at the Detroit Auto Show, it was announced that the crossover’s availability to showrooms will be towards the beginning of this fall.
