2016 Jeep Gladiator Review

Jeep has always been known for producing great vehicles and its success has started by making trucks of course. The long line of trucks that have been produced under this nameplate are numerous and very popular but people seem to forget those due to the change in industry and the needs of the market and the demand for more comfortable trucks and SUVs. The new 2016 Jeep Gladiator is supposed to change all of that and remind us on a time when trucks were more rugged and were a standard. The concept car was introduced a while ago but there were no talks about producing a production model for a long time. Finally speculations seem to be getting closer to realization with the 2016 model.

Jeep has actually not made a pickup truck for over 30 years already. Many fans have already divorced themselves from the brand and continued on to the next one, which has perhaps not hit Jeep in a short run but certainly has an effect on the long run. This is why they are coming back to the design that made their brand a popular one. The 2005 concept that was initially released was something that started this premise of pickup truck become popular again and getting back into contention. They were close a few times but never really got the appreciation they deserve and have not managed to become produced again.

The newly announced 2016 Jeep Gladiator is supposed to change all of that. It is an old idea but upgraded and backed up with contemporary finishing. It may become something great and turn the segment around and bring back the popularity of these sorts of vehicles again to the general public. Thus we bring to you the latest review of the car where you can see the latest pictures and the newly released information along with the specs.

The 2016 Jeep Gladiator is going to retain an overall tough design. It will look as a typical truck like vehicle but with some modern features. Of course, the designers wanted to use as much traditional elements as they possibly could and transferred it to this very interesting design piece. But there is a lot of modern and contemporary additions that make its way onto the vehicle. The front side of the car will keep the Wrangler appearance that the car always had but will add some new elements to the already established look. First of all, the bumper is completely different and it incorporates a new type of a bumper that has integrated projector lights which really come in handy in various sort of situations that can occur.

At the back, there is one considerable difference. The usual doors and tailgates are going to be completely replaced by a bed. There are going to be two much smaller doors that are given to the back and act as an entrance way to the back seat area. The spare wheel has been placed on the side of the car and is no longer positioned under the bed and accounts for a much cooler look for this vehicle. This has been something that was used with the old Dodge models of the 40s and 50s and now becomes a part of the newest Gladiator vehicle as well.

Interior

The interior of the 2016 Jeep Gladiator is going to be mostly based on the Wrangler vehicle. Perhaps not identical but for the most part transferred to this model, there are going to be many similarities between the interior parts of these two vehicles. But the highest difference is of course the rear seat area. Because of the added bed the rear seats are a lot smaller and do not provide that much comfort. But being that this truck has more purpose in hauling various stuff and not primarily people, it is okay to given an advantage to the better bed are that the rear seat one.

But there is going to be a very interesting addition to the newest Gladiator. It is going to use a new modular bed which you can use and change positions of it depending on your need. Actually, if there is a need you can take out the two back seats completely out and provide yourself with two extra feet of space. This is a particularly useful option for people who unintentionally plan to add larger loads than they have initially expected to. When taking the seats out the doors open only at the lower side provides easier access to the bed area.

Engine

As for the powertrain and the engine, the 2016 Jeep Gladiator is rumored to be using the same or similar kind of a setup that the Wrangler has. The base version is already certainly a  3.6 liter aspirated V6 engine that can make 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine is very good with its power delivery and it is a strong option to have but does not come with some favorable or any good fuel efficiency rates. This is the main reason that we think that the  2.8 liter VM Motori inline 4  is going to be included as an option here as well. It can produce 160 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque Both versions of the engine are certainly going to use a  5 speed automatic gearshift and a rear wheel drive as a standard option. There is going to be an ability of upgrading the setup to all-wheel drive and an 8 speed automatic transmission system.
