2016 Jeep Cherokee – New Model Info

2016 Jeep Cherokee Review

With the 2016 Jeep Cherokee update we receive everything that we have already expected from this brand. The nameplate does not go too far when bringing us a new set of tools and setups this time but there are some issues that we had with the styling and the packaging. Nevertheless, we see this as a perfect brand vehicle that is supposed to continue the Cherokee legacy and lead it from there.

The very first Jeep Cherokee car was launched back in 1986 and it was a vehicle that immediately set the bar for all sport-utility vehicles which are initially used for family transportation. This truck inspired a whole new generation of cars that came after it and was a pioneer in its segment with a whole new and different range of cars that were used as family haulers but are in its core utility cars. Some even go as far as to say that it even inspired the SUV vehicles. The new 2016 version of the Cherokee is going to be something completely new which is going to be placed onto very familiar name.

As the contemporary market favors vehicles that look more like cars this is what the 2016 Jeep Cherokee strives to be. They have managed to fit a large amount of rugged features, utility services and off-road ability onto a car which is primarily a family vehicle. It is a very welcomed brake actually from a truck-like Jeep that people are used to and has a less blunt and bluff styling now. The pictures are here to support our claim while the rest of the review will help you find all about the specs of the car and learn the price and the release date.

The 2016 Jeep Cherokee actually does not bring a striking design at first, you will have to let it sink in and breathe a bit. It is actually not as cohesive on the outside as it should be. The design is blunt and it has been so for time now and it is not anything bad about this car but we have expected something more awe-inducing as we really thing this is the thing the truck has been missing. They have done a sort of a step forward with the induction of the futuristic design to the front, on the other hand. The square-jawed front side is a challenge for all of the Jeep fans but we kind of think that it is its most appealing part. But if it happens that the front side is not your cup of tea, there is plenty more of the rest of the Cherokee that will make you like it.

Perhaps the only problem to the front is that it looks a little bit unconvincing and as a redux version of the Compass car. That may be so but we cannot argue with the fact that the lines are a bit blurred and that the car misses some styling consistency here. The nose is a bit thin but the LED running-lights eyebrows are a perfect addition here as they add a coolness element that was not expected from the vehicle. Actually it has a much cooler look after the sun sets, but when the sun goes up again it presents an Aztec-like sad face which is not too appealing. But the thing that we cannot stand for is the thinly drawn lines of the grille that take away the pride of the Jeep that was always its strong side.

Interior

The interior of the 2016 Jeep Cherokee is in fact much better designed than the exterior. It is not as polarizing as the outside of the car is and adds a very fashionable element to the car with not at all truck-like features and with some fine finishes and sporty and smooth elements.   The inside actually has a fluid feel to it as mostly elements on the inside have been inspired by birds of prey and hold a very peculiar and characteristic design by itself. But all in all it is a very handsome look which has been made available in several colors. Some of the newly offered hues are Iceland and Mount Kilimanjaro and Morocco, or actually gray, brown, and gold, right?

But an interesting part is that the designers felt a bit humorous when designing the interior and have in fact included several Easter Eggs for us on the inside. These will particularly be appreciated by Jeep enthusiasts who will more than likely enjoy these specific additions. Some of them include the 1941 Jeep Willys when you let the car park itself, the small but perfectly formed Jeep that sits at the base of the windshield, and many more. You will enjoy the inside more than the outside that is a fact.

Engine

The powertrain option given here are two available engines that are offered for the 2016 Jeep Cherokee. You actually have a choice between a four-cylinder engine and a V-6 engine. The base engine is going to be the 184-horsepower, 2.4-liter in-line four engine which is very strong and has decent acceleration, but it only works well if there is not too much weight inside the car. The second choice is the 3.2-liter V-6 which makes 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque. This version is very torquey and offers generally everything that you need and will help you with any sort of a job you throw at it. With the added Trailer Tow Package you will be able to enhance the towing ability of the car and get it up to 4,500 pounds. No matter which engine version you go for, you will get a smooth ride and a well-tuned machine.

The gearbox added for your use here is the ZF nine-speed automatic transmission system which adds a whole wide range of ratios which even allow the 4-cylinder engine to get better and quick acceleration rates. But some think that the Cherokee would have been better with fewer gears as now it manages to offer an EPA rating of 31 mpg highway which is not the class best option here.
