2016 Dodge Grand Caravan Release Date, Review, Specs, Engine – The new 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan poses some exceptional value for your money. With a great price and some wonderful new characteristics, this minivan is everything what you would want from a people hauler. Yet some concerns are posed with the crash tests that have been provided after the initial testing, but it is noting too much which can take away from this vehicle.
The Dodge Grand Caravan has been the best offering that Chrysler had to provide in the minivan segment for years now and it started with its debut in1983. The vehicle has for a long time been considered as the best car that could carry up to eight people. First it was called merely the Caravan, but as it has emerged as a Grand Caravan it represented best value for a minivan on the market. With its superior seating system and great entertainment abilities it offered are very pleasant ride for any party.
The new offering from Dodge of the 2016 model year will have all the prime characteristics that the car like the Grand Caravan needs and provides. The competition is tight this year and vehicles like Honda Odyssey, Nissan Quest and Kia Sedona are its prime competitions in the race to take the spot of the best people hauler in the segment. But with the 2016 update the Grand Caravan shows that it will be very hard to take it from the top. All of the specs and more can be seen in this review before.
2016 Dodge Grand Caravan exterior
The new Dodge Grand Caravan keeps it traditional and does not experiment with ludicrous design ideas with the upcoming model. It’s a box and that is that. The design is pretty straight forward and uses the same characteristics which have been present in the past nine vehicles that have been produced. The competition has started using some curvy designs and contemporary usage of sculpturing, but the Grand Caravan does not need all of that so it keeps its design simple and pretty straightforward. Upon viewing the vehicle from the outside you will immediately get the idea about its use and that is storage abilities and enough space to carry a large group of people from one position to the next.
So the 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan incorporates a pragmatic shape to its design without many distinguishing parts to it. What the new model uses that is perhaps the only trademark part of it is the crosshair grille design that makes a whole lot of difference to its look. This time there are some LED headlights added with some additions that make the car a little bit sporty. Although these additions are only few we cannot deny that there are some parts which have been taken from other Dodge vehicles and have been added to the Grand Caravan. Yet the minivan mostly keeps it quiet and to itself when it comes to the looks.
On the inside we still get an improved design which was introduced in 2011. The previous interior designs of the Grand Caravan employed some hard surfaces and granny finishes which were not that comfortable to be in. The reworking that was made in 2011 made the car much better and more comfortable. This is the reason this design and look has been kept for the 2016 update with only a few additions to enhance the already great look. The dash has been slimmed down and all the clutter has been removed making it easy to control and use and now even has an airy feel to it providing also an ease feel for the driver when on the road.
But the aforementioned granny plastic and hard materials and finishes are present behind the first row of seats. As this is not suitable of use on the front it is actually a different kind of a story at the back. The surfaces resist scratching and can be easier to clean from sticky food. So if you are driving your kids to school it will be much easier to clean if they make a mess at the back which will not be the case if other forms of materials were used. For those who want more attitude, there is the Blacktop package added this year. It mostly concerns the changes on the outside, but there are some additions which will make the inside better as well.
In order to put the all the trim levels of the new 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan, there is a single powertrain setup present. Under the hood you will find a 3.6-liter V-6 engine, which can make 283 horsepower. The engine combines with a six-speed automatic transmission which shifts the power to the front wheels only, as we are not getting a comeback of the all-wheel drive this year as well which was last used for the Grand Caravan car in 2007. This setup provides a large addition of mid-range and long-range power and is a very nice combination for the needs that you will need the vehicle to perform.
